man was it Kingswoodian who acted?
Trintians are just too scared, I remember once in bradby shield match, they started a fight(Kandy leg) & then when we enterd they just ran off:lol:

Anyway I truly hate when there are fights within the spectators of twams. Game should be played with its spirit:D:)
Players certainly do live up to it, once we had a fight in the field & once the game was over we were able to laugh together about it;):D:) That's how it should go:D

Trinity beat Dharmaraja – 25-14

The Lions drew first blood by scoring a try. It was a ding-dong battle where both teams scoring one after the other.

However, referee abandoned the match as things got hot in and out of the field. Rajans are being blamed for the chaos that took place towards the end of the match and even later. Rajans have hit Trinity supports and they have also caused damage to the property including vehicles.

The Trinity team was provided special security by the Police who arrived at the scene and taken off the grounds safely.

Await more info…

Trinity: 1 goal, 3 tries, 1 penalty
Dharmaraja: 2 goals

I dont know what all the talk is about. Trinity beat Rajans. I hear not much fighting. By the way Rajans tried to fight Thoras back in 1990 when I played, and got thrashed by the Thomians in Kandy. Kingswood guys are tough and play good rugby. But I dont think they would have come for this match when they were playing Pathana. Anyways goes to show how good the A division is.... the 2 teams that came from B division are heading back there. DMV and Vidayartha.

Its a Scary Situation for Colombo rugby if St peters losses another game... Cos that means the A Division League decider will be between Kingswood & Trinity on 22nd at Bogambara and the winner takes the league and the loosers would be the runners up. Both stays in Kandy...

however, If Peters stays unbeaten for the rest of the league, that means the winner needs to win with a margin to gain with bonus points which make s the job difficult for both teams...:(....

Trinity scrapes through to 25-14 win over Dharmaraja

    Dailymirror 07.06.08
By U.J.J. Jezeem – Kandy Sports Corr

Trinity’s strength was tested to the maximum before they pulled off a hard fought 25 points (1 goal, 3 tries, a drop goal) to 14 (2 goals) win over Dharmaraja in their schools Singer Shield Division One Group A rugby tournament match played at the Pallekelle Rugby Stadium yesterday.

The Rajans who scored their first win last week over Vidyartha put up a gallant show. If only their moves had the required finish they could have emerged winners.

With the game barely five minutes old the Lions drew first blood when their full back Ahmed Fahad joined the line to score near the posts. Fly half S. Yatawara’s kick at goal was off target. (Trinity 5-0).

But the Rajans fought back and harassed the Trinity defence with some stirring loose play. A kick ahead by a Rajan was misjudged by a Trinity defender and Rajans winger Malinga Godigamuwa who followed the kick grabbed the loose ball and touched down by the posts. Full back Indika Wickremanayake added the extra points. Rajans led 7-5, for the only time in the match.

In the 18th minute the Trinity fly half, spotting an open field, made a 30 meter drop goal to lead 8-7.

In the 34th minute winger Wishwajith Wijesinghe scored the first of his three tries when he received a pass from a set scrum. Yatawara failed with theconversion Trinity 15-7.

The pitched battle continued after the turn around and Trinity’s speedy winger Wishwajit Wijesinghe scored off a three-quarter move. This time Shannon Armstrong failed to add the extra points. Trinity led 20-7.
The Rajans kept on fighting and they had two good moves which could have ended in tries, but they were driven back by the defence put up by the Lions.

They were rewarded in the 15th minute when their forwards drove powerfully and vigorously which ended with No 8 Ishara Muddenayake scoring by the posts. Full back Indika Wickremanayake added the extra points and the Rajans narrowed the gap at 20-10, leaving it to be anybody’s game at this stage. But the Rajans did not progress beyond that.

Trinity made sure of their victory when their star winger Wishwajit Wijesinghe scored off a three-quarter move. Shannon Armstrong failed to convert.

Referee Priyantha Gunaratne was at the receiving end of verbal abuse by spectators who boored and jeered him apparaently for not judging a dangerous tackle by a Trinity player.
