yes i like to find abt these things

great 2 see interest building up

SL has a very colourful history (waaaaaaaaaay before arrival of Prince Vijaya). For several generations, the interest in history was lost! this was due 2 our education system. but thanks to ppl like Arisen Ahubudu, Dr Sooriya Gunasekara and programs like Maha Sinhale Wanshakathaawa, interest is there again in the current generations.

I know of ppl who think West has the best of everything and try 2 b American/European etc but unfortunately, they fit neither here nor there :D :D

Am really glad 2 c ppl looking at our own roots :)

PS: mageth yaaluwek hitiya nitharama puruddata wage oluwa wanana. ugen api ehuwe, thaththa katussekda kiyala :D :D wihiluawatai kiiwwe. ganan ganna epa honde!

PPS: i corrected the name of Dr Sooriya Gunasekara (i have put it as Gunawardena) :)

Anyone wanna build a Dandu-monara?

this is an old Sanskrit book converted to English, which shows - step by step - how to build a Dandu-monara (Vimaana).

kind of boring 2 read, because of the detailed nature of it.

apparently, this has been used by the US (suprise, surpise!) to build a mercury-vortex engine. which means that the original author of this document was real and more interestingly, the machine has existed!!

http://www.sacred-texts.com/ufo/vs/index.htm

Good luck! :)

If there were ppl who were able to build advanced spaceships, am sure that they knew how to operate a star-gate!

mind you, this is straight out of King Raavana's story

i heard ,rite bros used raavana's time document for there air craft project .

cud be! but the two technologies are worlds apart (pun intended). :)

Wright brothers' technology is way primitive compared to the mercury-vortex engine of King Raavana

This is why i believe that superior technology existed in a period where there isnt much evidence left of. The question then arises: if there was an advanced civilization, why didnt they keep anything written?!

Answer is again simple: they didnt have to!! this may sound very simple and stupid. but we have to look at things from their point of view. Certain things that are obvious (and second-nature) to us, may not even be thinkable to someone else!

a good example is that the entire Thripitaka was never documented until "recently". Those venerable Arahats never had the need to write things down! But that does not mean that Thripitaka never existed.

Another thing (on a more funnier note): just imagine thousand years from now, archaeologists would dig and they wont find any trace of wires/cables. Now, would it be fair to theorize that no means of communication existed thousand years before!? (ok, i was joking herer :) but thats something to think about)

yeah. Our ancient civilization fell with Polonnaruwa. The later ones were not strong enough. May be the technology couldnt be handed down to the later generations.

Mind you, during Anuradhapura/Polonnaruwa era, our ppl were very religious and peace loving. They may not have had the weaponry of their opponents. They may have been on higher level from a spiritual point of view, but higher you go, lesser you are equipped with weapons!!

Why do you think they built ever-lasting stupas and not ever lasting houses. only rubble is left of even the palaces. but the stupas were relatviely better off.
