There is...The drivetrains for 4X4 vehicles are full-time 4X4 and part-time 4X4. Full-time 4X4 is also known as constant 4WD, all wheel drive (AWD), or full-time 4WD, and part-time one is also known as selectable 4WD.
The Subaru is a AWD system.
The difference between part-time 4X4 and full-time 4X4 is that part-timers drive just the rear wheels onroad, and the AWDs drive all four wheels, all the time.

not true, AWD usually drives as a 2WD and engages AWD only when there is a loss of traction, no driver intervention is needed.
btw op I drive a 2018 XV(Petrol) and is a very good vehicle, only two things I'd have liked more is a bit more power and boot space.

Wrong.. as far I am aware.
Which Model of Subaru XV you have?
They have models with Auto and Active Torque Split.

But note - There are part time AWD - (while the majority is full time AWD)
Part time AWD's usually powers the front or the rear (depending on the model) and engages the four wheels by sensing the road conditions.

Think I'm wrong, always thought Subaru AWD is part-time as some other AWDs but seems it's full time(which makes me happy). Thanks for correcting me. I have 2018 XV 2.oi-l

There was an issue of a reported stall in some of the the 2012 - 2017 series of vehicles and Subaru extended the warranty on these models to 10 years or 100000 miles. (not kms)
But this did NOT include the XV.

Generally most CV transmissions have been reported with some kind of problems, probably Nissan was the worst - and Honda is considered to be the best. Always Honda auto gearboxes were supposedly superior.
But Honda also had heaps of issues - specially with the Odessey and even with the Accord. Even the US and European manufacturers had their share of problems. Remember the VW DSG gearbox?
But the CVT gearboxes are here to stay. Subaru developed their own saying that it will never need any maintenance lifetime. In fact it was much better in performance but after 5 years started giving issues. That's the reason for warranty extension.

Sometimes many issues were sorted out by software updates.

Machan, i dont know the answer to your questions specifically on the 2014 XV Hybrid.

But i have owned a couple of Subaru`s and driven plenty more (including 2018 XV, but NOT 2014) : http://www.elakiri.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1880473&page=77

Personally, i would NOT recommend a 5/6 year old Hybid XV under Sri Lankan market conditions. There are plenty of better options for the money you pay.

Of course this NOT relevant, either if :

1.) Money and budget is not a concern
2.) You are a proper car enthusiast, you value the experience over the expenses (and time) spent on the car. You have a good understanding about cars in general and able to figure things out if there are issues.
