1, Yes, I am born Sinhalese and born Buddhist. I remained a Buddhist by birth till I found Vipassana (www.dhamma.org) and then I became a real follower by practice.
I don't live in the dream that Sinhalese is the best nation of the world and Sri Lanka only belong to us. We have our unique special virtues as well as unique special vices and this belongs to everyone who live here. I knew a German who lived here for 25 years. I feel him more sri lankan to me than my own sister who lives abroad.

2, I don't take decisions of Governmental affairs for there are so many aspects we don't see, like international pressures.
But as a whole I can't stand killing and don't appreciate killing of any being for any reason.
That is a very basic quality of a real Buddhist.
As far as I know…. other than primitive tribes which believe in killing the only religion which allows Killing human beings is Islam... that too only for the religion. It is just funny how Buddhist monks and Christian priests hail the war. They think from their pockets and bellies.
I can't make decisions about Ealam too for I don't really know what Prabhakaran wants. He is another type of a terrorist and there are others who terrorize us in the south by media. Even if he is right and just in his motives he will be totally different person once he is in power. We saw what happened to Mahinda, Chandrika, Premadasa, JR... after they won and it goes on. They are not themselves once they are in power. They can‘t think anything else other than how to save the title.
So I prefer it as it is now... I don't trust any change will be better. As you know we had beautiful dreams about Batticalow... but now what is happening. There are more evil forces than LTTE and people are in a worse trouble and no one rules the east and everyone is scared.
Same can happen in North after the war ends and it can spread here too.
I was happier and felt relatively much safer when there was Cease Fire. Not 100% but not so insecure as of now. I really miss it. I don’t know how it would be for the country… but I prefer Cease Fire to war.

2, Yes, I don't like the way my mother brought me up. She pampered me too much and she still does. I missed a lot of opportunities because of that dependence she habituated in me treating me like a retarded bum. I was partly saved because my father raised me independently.
So I have the taste of both and know what is better. But many fathers take care of children like Ayahs and worse than mothers now.. they don't have any authority. Mothers are natural slaves and now fathers are slaves of the wives.
Parents act like slaves. And children learn from parents and act like slaves for stronger people and act as dictators with weaker. These are the two ways they learn. They don’t know cooperation.
I have seen parents who carry their sleeping children of Grade one. I didn’t carry my kid after he could walk by himself. Now he doesn’t allow me to hold his hand. He wants to walk alone, and I am proud of him. I raised him very much independent till he goes to Kindergarten but now he too is being spoiled a lot with pampering and the lies of the teachers. I can’t help it but I try my best to make him walk without any crutches.
It is very difficult because the whole society looks at kids as retarded bums who need our help in everything. They need guidance but no help in everything.
So they miss the most valuable time for learning living in parents lap. Adults Bonsai the child in a pot and then plant it in soil and try very hard to make him a tree and fail. When a kid is seven years he has habituated a learning pattern which will remain intact for the whole life. Baby starts learning as soon as it is born. My daughter was born into my hand when we were rushing to the hospital and she held my finger as soon as she was born. Now she is few months and we put her on the floor and give her a lot of things around her, not toys but news papers books, the tricycle of her brother. She studies them all the time continuously.
Once, out of our stupidity, we brought something closer to her when it was out of her reach and from then onward she stopped trying and started crying as soon as something out of reach. We realized and stopped responding to her crying and now she is again trying to reach on her own.
My theory for raising children is that we shouldn’t do anything which they can do by themselves.
Test yourself now. If you are dependant you would not agree with me.

4, I bring this thing up because I feel it is childish to exaggerate things and live in a dream like who are drunk.
Forces fight in North and we interpret it as a war going in the country.
And some stupid things happen here because of this wrong attitude created by media. Everyone is afraid and look at others with suspicion.. You can see here in Elakiri too, how does fear turn into anger and how threads become like Mervyn at parliament.

Once a bomb was blasted from a rack in a bus. After that in buses they don’t allow keep anything in racks but bus-conductors tell us to keep things under the seats. There are so many stupid things going on out of the fear for the exaggerations.
I just want to test my thinking against the judgment of others.
When someone like you argue intelligently I realize things I couldn’t realize by myself. But that kind of profound thinking is quite rare here. Perhaps many intelligent members must have left the forum or left replying because they can’t tolerate some emotional members who act like Mervyn. I don’t get angry at them or get discouraged by them, so I have no problem with them. It is their way of responding and it is much better than acting like a Zombie. In fact it is amusing in a way. I always love to watch Mervyn as I watch a drunk or an insane in act.
Childishness is amusing.

I very well know that this government or any government will NOT do anything for me or any other normal citizen. They help themselves and who directly help them.
I have had dreams of a better country when I was ignorant…. eventually they were shattered.
I have seen how do they lie and I don’t trust people who lie… even exaggerate the truth.

Once someone in power 99% of his energy is spent to find ways to stay in power… the other one per cent to take care of his day to day needs like having his meals.
100% of their work pointed toward that end. War also a part of the same strategy.
What benefit you can expect of them.
A person who lives in Washington DC paid $3.98 in the recent past and he pays $1.98 now . They pay 50% less now.
What benefit do we have from the oil prices coming down almost 3 to 1. That is quite visible and how bad it can be in invisible areas.
No my friend, I know that we are going for a worse situation every moment, no matter who ever in power. Sometimes faster and sometimes slower but we are definitely going down.
I am awake.
So I have no dreams of a better future and I have no suggestions.
We can’t do anything to change anything. None knows what is right or what is true. We live in a big lie. So what hope we have.

I believe in this moment for I am living it. For the next one I don’t have any hope. There is none out there who thinks of us. They have no time. They run so fast for themselves. They don’t even think about themselves. They have forgotten themselves.
