I saw several people mentioning Troy as one of their favorites. I had no idea that it was so popular around here.

I just wanted to ask, are you aware that the story is completely different from the epic/legends, many characters are missing while almost all characters are portrayed inaccurately?

When I was watching Troy, I just felt disgusted with the filmmakers.

Only a movie like 'Breavheart' (the most ridiculously inaccurate movie ever) could beat Troy in this regard.

    Just curious....

I've red Iliad a few times :P yeah the movie is not even remotely faithful an adaption to the book, but I don't hate the movie..it's not really that bad. after all it's from wolfgang peterson

and seriously shawshank redemption? prolly cos people haven't seen better. that movie's ok and all but one can hardly call it the best movie ever.

The shawshank redemption is considered ‘best movie ever’ only by consumers (not by critics). Critics only see it as an average movie. This is a fact.

On consumer ratings, it’s the Best movie ever. This is also a fact.

And most SKR fans are aware that it’s an average movie on technical aspects.

It’s the most watched movie in TV. Most rented out movie ever, and equally popular around the world. It’s broadcasted somewhere in the world at any given time.

And it’s over 16 years old!

I remember that it was the first movie broadcasted after the tsunami crisis in Sri Lanka. Pretty much shows the place it has in the hearts of movie fans.

popularity don't necessarily add up to the quality
as a matter of fact, most of the most popular stuff in any form of art, happen to be utter shite.
    not calling shawshank shite though

When they are making a making movie..they are making a god damn movie...they are not trying to tell people a history story...so they make the movie to depict the art of film-making not the art of telling an accurate story..
if you wanna know the accurate story..
    read the god damn book..
if u like to watch a movie in regard to the book..
    watch the god damn movie...
