    Personally prefer Ceylon.

I prefer Ceylon.. And If the government is going to change the constitution, the name and the national anthem should be changed.. Both are bad..

"Towards futuristic prosperity".... Keep on dreaming :(

Reminds me of an old story. I forget the greater details but the gist of it as follows. Old JRJ met Lord Sakra and was given the chance to ask a question. JRJ apparently asked "Will I be able to make SriLanka prosperous within my lifetime"
Sakra started crying... Then JR questioned "What's wrong. Did I upset you my Lord?"
Sakra replied saying that " I had to cry - just because it will NOT even happen within my lifetime"

Anyway the proper name should be "Slave Island" - at least that reflects the majority. The only way towards prosperity is to come out of slave mentality. Sadly, that's another dream.

Ceylon is a well known global brand frm early 1900’s..Ceylon as a brand has more history than Coca Cola
Certainly Yes.. The Arabs used Serendib (Island of Rubies) and also Saheelan. From Saheelan came the other two derivations Zeylan and Seylan.
    Then the British used Ceylon.
