Now dont talk rubbish. If Nirosha said your friend was not singing to tune, then for sure he was not singing to tune, because Nirosha has a better ear for music than you. Are you a PhD in music, to call the sss judges " total crap " ?

And shame on your friend. Although he is a postgraduate student, he seems to be lacking in basic education, because education teaches a man, discipline, humility & most of all to give respect where respect is due. Every PG student in music is not necessarily a good singer, so his arrogance in challenging the musical genius of Rookantha & Jagath Wickremasinghe shows that he is a naive fool. He should give up his PG in music & take to the boxing ring, because that is where he can have a free punch at the judges ! Music is a sublime art meant for sensitive people & not for those who challenge their seniors.

It is ridiculous to expect these respected musicians to come down to his level & accept his challenge to sing better than him. This reminds me of the sinhala saying " ballek biruwata kandak miti nowei " This so called PG in music should be thankful that the judges were very polite & considerate in not hurting the feelings of contestants, unlike in the "American Idol" where they went to town ridiculing the participants. Even in the current 2nd round contest we see some stupid contestants, ( I prefer to call them jokers ) who cannot sing a line in the correct pitch or melody, come out & criticize the judges when they are knocked out of the contest.

Little do they know that they make fools of themselves in the eyes of millions who watch the programme. Anyway, thanks to them, we are kept in stitches of laughter which is good for our health !

My sympathies go out to these jokers who sing out of tune, but believe they are mighty singers & musicians !

In my opinion the judgements in the sss contest ( 1st round ) were excellent. Hats off to all three of them who are hugely talented & respected in the local music field. Where will sinhala music be, without the extraordinary compositions of Rookantha, the mellow voice of Jagath & the lilting songs of Nirosha ?

Hak! Hak! Hak! the same words came out of Jagath Wickramasinghe's mouth when I met him once. His brother (who is a doctor, and can equally well sing) is one of my best friends. Please stop imagining things! These are first had information!

I think the best voice is Mr.Victor Rathnayake's and next is Mr.Edward Jayakodi. All others are good but need more voice control. also the electronic voices are usless.
