Why do people (in SL mainly) fall for the higher video RAM = better gaming TRAP?

I also was thinking like that, but it's 8 years ago. I had my pc with 64M RAM and 128M of VGA those days. But Now I do not care about VRAM, just go for the GPU simply because they put enough RAM to match GPU when they make the card.

Yeah its amazing that out of no where VGA become almost as important as any other component now... thinking back its so funny that... 10 Years back I was using a PC where CPU is more expensive than the VGA.. and today.. somehow that turned on its head!

Hehe... IMO, the manufacturers almost always ship with *enough* or *more than enough* VRAM for a particular card, except the 8800GT 256MB and maybe HD3850 256MB. The problem is, people only seem to choose the cards with *more than enough* VRAM :/

And nowadays manufacturers can't really get away with these people who review their products  If the card is exactly the reference model then they'd write "Good Card but no headroom for OC" if its good enough "Great Card but got heat issues or noise issues"
