අද සිරස ප්‍රවෘත්ති වලට දැක්කා ඒ බෝ ගසේ අතු පිටින් කපලා දානවා. හම්බයෝ පොර කමෙන්ට්ස් ටිකකුත් දුන්නා. ඉස්සරහට තව මොනවා වෙයිද දන්නේ නෑ.

අද පෑවති සාකච්ඡාවේදී මවුලවිවරු එකගවූයේ පෑරණි පළ්ලිය පවත්වාගෙන යාමටත් නව යෝජිත පළ්ලියේ අදහස අතහෑර දෑමීමටත්ය. එසේම එහි පෑරණි පළ්ලිය ට යාබදව තියෙන "කාක්" බෝ ගස කපා ඉවත් කර ගෑනීමටත් ස්වාමීන්වහන්සේ ඈතුළු ගම් වාසීන් එකග වී තිබෙනවා. මීටර් 10ක් ඈතුලත නව පළ්ලියක් ඈරබීමට ගත් උත්සාහය එමගින් පරාජය කර තිබෙනවා. ගෑටුමෙන් මුස්ලිම් අය මෙන්ම සිoහල අයද තුවාලවී දේපළ හානිද සිදුවී තිබෙනවා. මෙම සිද්ධිය පෑහෑදිලිවම මුස්ලිම්වරු විසින් ලබාදී තිබූ ලිඛිත පොරොන්දු කඩවීමක් නිසා ඈති වූවක්. එමෙන්ම හතු පිපෙන්නාක් මෙන් පළ්ලි ඈටවීමේ කුමන්ත්‍රණයක්.

Bo tree taken down in Grandpass

Following tensions in Grandpass which erupted on Saturday night an agreement was reached at a meeting with officials, politicians and religious persons on Sunday.

The solution involved the new Muslim Mosque in the area which became the root cause to the tense situation, to be taken back to its old location and allocated the necessary space. It was agreed that the Bo tree in the vicinity would be removed allowing the expansion of the original mosque in the area where the number of Muslim families had increased from 80 to 470 since 1987.

Earlier permission had been granted temporarily to use a warehouse as a prayer centre until the Ramazan festival was over. However, after the festival was over nothing had changed and devotees were continuing to use the location, sparking off protests.

The Urban Development Authority and the Municipal council removed the Bo tree, where future religious activities are to be conducted.
