Do you know that origina Village in the Jungle (by Leonard Wolf) is on web site of a library of top 5 University in US. you can try it) It can be downloaded too. I had never seen this book in SL . So copyright has 'fair use ' exception. Even libraries share books . we are not selling it for profit. That is what is protected in copyright. We do photocopy parts of the book for study. That is allowed. So the people who had uploaded pdf of novels have not done a wrong. They shared their book like we give our books to friends to borrow. This is electronic borrowing.
Find another way to share. Some of the books I was looking for more than a decade and they were out of print. So it was a great service to us as well as to younger generation who do not have the opportunity to read old books.!
