If someone fell in love with a transgender person regardless of the birth gender that means he or she fell in love with that transgender person's character and personality , not with the person's gender. That's how love works.
How ever, I've talked to both types of trans people (not Sri Lankans) and asked the same question you asked . They all said , the first thing they do before going into a relationship is to tell the other person that he / she is a transgender. I cant vouch for Sri Lankans , but Europeans / Americans never lie about their gender history to start a relationship.
