Same.. Even Covid was reported with pets. But usually is not transferred by pets to a human. That Amoy gardens was only a single incident as far as I can remember.

Same strand. Apparently the virus can bind to ACE2 in cats and dogs with similar efficiency as it does in humans

Not this Covid-19. But earlier in 2003 it happened with SARS. There was a classic case of Amoy Gardens, HongKong where it was passed on by cats in the apartment block. But that was the single case.

Once someone is dead the virus does not get usually transferred. But there are many exceptions - Ebola, hemorrhagic fevers, Cholera etc can get passed on.
The safer option is to cremate, because you are not so sure about the burial due to the water table contamination and other factors.

China made it compulsory cremation. It's faster disposal and a much safer option.
Religious sentiments do not necessarily apply under a pandemic situation.

There is no evidence so far of transmission of SARS-CoV-2 through the handling of bodies of deceased persons.
The potential risk of transmission related to the handling of bodies of deceased persons with suspected or
confirmed COVID-19 is considered low and can be related to:

• direct contact with human remains or bodily fluids where the virus is present
• direct contact with contaminated fomites.

As viable SARS-CoV-2 may persist on surfaces for days [7], there is the possibility that the virus also persists on
deceased bodies. Therefore, unnecessary contact with bodies should be minimised by those not wearing personal
protective equipment (PPE).
