For Cisco now routing and switching is dying. They are more towards ACI, Software define shit. Try following those. You might find some good opportunities in banks, telcos or even SIs because most networks are moving towards ACI.

Virtualization is also another avenue you can look at if you are interested in.

before giving my opinion can I know a bit about your background? I don't have certificates related to the Linux ecosystem but I do manage more than 100 Linux servers.

sysadmin, 400k a month. 1 year exp by now. But i had been a programmer for 8 years before that.

linux is easy when you keep working with it.

i am looking to get certified though. proly linux foundation certs. has a target to migrate thats why.

if you are talented/skilled... sudda ppl will pay you top dollar, you might think. But about 80% of what matters is your soft skills. communication, language, people skills etc

in SL the skills you need the most is the ass giving skill and the skill to have patience with dickheads. i never had those.
