Depend on your work location and life style. For a bachelor with modest needs even 5000$ is enough.saving 200000 is easy.just 1500$.normally experienced SE gets paid around 6000-15000SGD.

If you are single or a couple Anything above $6000 should be more than enough.
If you have family with children $7000+ should be enough.
Rent will cost you the most. Normally a condo is around around $1800-$2500.
If you cook by yourself you can save a lot.

if kid is going to school or day care,

day care will cost $2000++ & international schools also cost you $2000 if you cannot find a government school for your kid

If you are thinking about schooling the kid there I would say look for a package around 8k. Education and child care are really expensive.
