7. Go to the place with your previous Passport ( if Any ) and with NIC and give finger prints ..
If we somehow go to passport office with required copies and all, can we get the passport renewed same day?
Passport Renewal Process - Offline
Today morning (14th July) I went to the passport office to renew my passport. (Under one-day-service)
There was a helpful post that was saying the online procedure for the passport renewal, I saw it only yesterday night. So, as planned I went today morning.
Around 7am I went there and the place was very crowded, but the good thing was, the passport new/renewal queue was inside the second building and I did not have to stay under sunlight.
1. They have two queues
a. Normal Service queue
b. One-day service queue
2. I followed the one-day-service queue and it was the longest queue. I had to join it from outside the building but in 30 minutes I reached to 2nd floor
3. On the second floor, you must provide your documents and get a token. Below documents needed for Passport Renewal.
a. Filled application form
b. Online photo receipt
c. Photocopy of NIC - Keep original NIC with you (Important)
d. Birth Certificate - I had original and copies, but they got original one
e. Copy of old passport first page
f. If you include your occupation you need your Job offer letter or equivalent (photo copies) to confirm it and degree certificate copies.
4. Once you get token, you need to go to another counter. There, they will check, confirm your documents and arrange them in a correct update
5. Then you need to wait until your token number comes. There are displays which will continuously update with the current token number in the queue.
My number was 260 whereas the ongoing number was 113. I had to wait 45 minutes there until my number was called.
6. Then you can go in and there you can hand over your token. Keep your token with you until you go in.
7. Then you will be redirected to relevant counters where your documents will be taken including finger prints.
8. You will get a receipt from there and you need to pay the one-day fee which is Rs 20,000 and get a receipt.
9. In the receipt you will have the respective counter number which you need to collect your passport after few hours.
For me, they said it will get ready by 3-4 hours.
I handed over the documents and did the payment around 9 am and I got an SMS around 11:50 am from immigration informing me to collect the passport from the respective counter at 12:20 PM.
So, I started typing this once I handover the documents and I am completing this with the new passport in hand.
Let me know if you guys need any support if these steps are not clear
