“We have an opening issue. Avishka is a great fielder as well. If he is physically fit, he will be considered an essential player for the team,” the former cricketer pointed out.
Marvan Attapattu believes that Sri Lanka is in need of at least two experienced players when facing a World Cup.
Commenting on his favourites to win the World Cup, Attapattu said India will be under tremendous pressure this time around, even though they have a good team.
He further revealed that among the teams, he looks forward to the performance of Bangladesh as it has a resemblance to Sri Lanka’s 1996 World Cup winning team.
Speaking of Sri Lanka, Attapattu believes if the confidence level is set well then Sri Lanka has the capacity to go far in the World Cup tournament.
“I would also love it if Sri Lanka won. However, I can’t surely say that Sri Lanka will win,” he added. (NewsWire)
