I got my first degree from a state university of Sri Lanka and Mphil from the same state university. I did not mention the name of the state university for someone from the same university might recognize me.
.BTW, my issue is that I come from a humble background so I don't have that much of connections with senior academics other than my supervisor. That's why I was bit worried.

Yes there are some internal politics, such things are usual in Sri Lanka ne
But they can't eliminate someone who is qualified; for example, let's say that there is someone who has a relationship with VC, Dean or HoD and there is only one vacancy to fill, But your qualification is more than that person, now they double the vacancy and will take both you.

Yes, and yes, connections are necessary to get into srilankan university system. Its sad but truth.
However, someone saying that you need to "dekata nawila inna" is far from the truth. It's all about people skills and playing the game. I don't think you can survive in any Sri Lankan system, whether private or government, without those skills.
And about salary, again many people have no idea that how much you can earn with power and connections in the system. There are numerous opportunities to earn more. However if you don't want to play the game. it's best to leave the country for somewhere that gives opportunities to raw talent.
