I have a request for a song…

Does anyone have the older version of this song by Nanda Malani?

Chandra Madulu Yata Suranganawan – Nanda Malani

If my memory is correct, this song was written by Mihinda Wijesekara.

There is an interesting story behind my request –

The newer version of this song does not have the last two lines of the original song-

Du Allannata Hende Yame - Mallak Aragena Billek Enawalu
Weera Duwe Ma Biya Noma Wanne –Sihala Leyai Nube Sirura Diwenne

This happened because some idiot thought that these two lines convey a "racist" message. This idiot convinced Nanda Malani to re-record the song chopping off the above mentioned part of the song. This was done without the consent of the writer. They did not even inform the writer what they were going to do till they have completed the recording. According to one newspaper, they justified the act by saying “The original song was too long”!

The writer didn’t take any legal action against this because he was a gentleman. Don’t be surprised that Nanda Malani is involved in such acts. There was a time when she claimed that she’s ashamed of having sung the famous song “Me Sinhala Apage Ratai”. (Even now, just how many jerks claim that this song is racist? What is racist about “Sama Karuna Guna Mahime – Apa Upathin Lada Urume”?) Fortunately, times have changed.

Anyway, the original song can be heard at Miyuru Gee -
