Mr. Mahinda Rajapakse’s son and President of ‘Tharunyata Hetak’ organization Namal Rajapakse has admitted that he had met and has had dealings with the head of the LTTE international financial section Emil Kanth. There was much talk in the society when discussions and dealings he has had with the head of the LTTE international financial section was revealed. However, in an election rally held at Udugampola today (16th) he admitted that he met Emil Kanth in London.

President of ‘Tharunyata Hetak’ Namal Rajapakse addressing the rally said, “A photograph has been presented saying I have connections with terrorists. It is a photograph taken in England. It was my secretary who took that photograph. I’m in the photograph with my friend Rukshan and a Tamil friend.

Behind us is another Tamil boy. I didn’t know who he was. He came and asked me to pose for a photograph with him. Now, my dear comrades if someone comes and tells me to pose with him for a photograph should I ask for his name, who his parents are, what his nationality is, his religion or his caste?

All who live in this Motherland are equal to me. I don’t care about a person’s religion or his race. For, I’m a youth living in the 21st century. Hence, I tell the UNP and the JVP to point their fingers at the person who gave them the photograph before they point their fingers at me. Ask him why he took Namal to that place.”

As soon as the photograph was published everyone in the government party said it had been doctored and the story was a fabrication. There was an attempt by certain web sites to insert another’s image instead of Emil’s and state the photograph was doctored and a fabrication.

However, Mr. Namal Rajapakse himself admitted that the photograph was taken by his secretary and he appears in the photograph with his ‘friends.’ This indicates the photograph was not doctored and not a fabrication.
