    Very few times, specially when debugging some low level stuff. But when it comes to fields like embedded systems, there can be lot of uses of it.

    core or peel, it is just a code, and it is in some sort of version control system, it is not that hard to understand what has removed and what has added. if you can put enough effort you should be able to get the feature back on. Microsoft definitely has the capability and money to do it.

    I can't understand why Opera and Edge also losing that functionality. Google can remove the feature from the Chrome original codebase, but Opera and Edge developers can add the feature back to their forks.
