ගෝඨාභය රාජපක්ෂ මහතා ජනාධිපති ධුරයෙන් මේ මොහොතේ ඉල්ලා අස්විය යුතු නැති බව ජාතික නිදහස් පෙරමුණේ නායක පාර්ලිමේන්තු මන්ත්‍රී විමල් වීරවංශ මහතා පවසයි.

ඒ මහතා පෙන්වා දෙන්නේ ජනාධිපතිවරයා ඉල්ලා අස් වුවහොත් ව්‍යවස්ථාව අනුව පාර්ලිමේන්තුවේ බහුතරය ඇති පුද්ගලයා වැඩබලන ජනාධිපති වරයා ලෙස පත් වීම සිදුවන බවයි. එවන් අවස්ථාවක දැනට සැඟවී සිටින බැසිල් රාජපක්ෂ මහතා පැමිණ පාර්ලිමේන්තුවේ බහුතරය පෙන්වා ජනාධිපති වීමේ අවදානමක් ඇතැයිද හෙතෙම කියා සිටියේය.

එනිසා සිදුකළ යුත්තේ ජනාධිපතිවරයා යම්කිසි වැඩපිළිවෙලකට සිරකර යම්කිසි කාලයක් ඉදිරියට ගමන් කිරීම බවත් ඔහු පැවසීය. මූලික කොටම අගමැතිවරයා ඇතුළු පවතින ආණ්ඩුව ඉල්ලා අස්වී එම කටයුත්ත ආරම්භ කළ යුතු බවත් හෙතෙම කියා සිටියේය. සම්මන්ත‍්‍රණයක් අමතමින් ඔහු මෙම අදහස් පල කරන ලදී.

It is not about our constitution men. Our constitution changes rapidly than the $ rate. It's simply about Basil being a US citizen. Basil has to revoke his US citizenship first to assume duties as a president of another country.
