Three wheelers are bad for the economy in many ways ;

- all the able bodied youth is trapped in useless three wheelers. In many other countries is is the old and retired that drive taxies. Had these youth gone to technical colleges after AL / OL, got themselves qualified as electricians, mechanics, bakers, they’ve would have easily got a high paying job aboard and send must needed foreign currency.

- by burning fossil fuel you burn your foreign reserves. Its bad for the environment not just the economy. Most of our loans were used to import fuel. We must try to reduce three wheels and private vehicles and increase public transport capacity immediately

- three wheelers are used for many nefarious anti social activities, including prostitution and drug running, criminal activities

- three wheels are a law unto themselves. These uneducated drivers do not know or care about road rules. They increase traffic and contribute to accidents. They contribute to noise pollution, they destroy the environment and makes Sri Lanka look like a typical south Asian slum country
