Mankad and timed out are two different ways a batsman can be dismissed in cricket:
1. Mankad Out: This dismissal occurs when the bowler, during their delivery stride, removes the bails at the non-striker's end before releasing the ball, provided the non-striker has left the crease before the bowler enters their delivery stride. It's a legal but often controversial method of dismissing a batsman for leaving the crease early.
2. Timed Out: A batsman can be dismissed as "timed out" if they take too long to come out to bat or if the incoming batsman takes too long to arrive at the crease after the fall of a wicket. This rule is used to ensure the game progresses at a reasonable pace.
Both rules serve different purposes in cricket, with "Mankad out" being related to the non-striker's position, while "timed out" is about the timing of a batsman's actions during the game.
