I would like to see sri lanka team as folllows,
Knowing the approach of SL I think they will play Chathuranga instead of Lakmal. Lakmal is a very good new ball bowler now a days. He can swing & seam the ball very well. Pakistan top order not good at playing against seam & swing. Among top3 they have two right handers and Lakmal can take the ball away from them. Those two right handers are very crucial for them. If he can pick up couple of early wickets that will be a huge plus for us. If he is not playing tomorrow means, It's hard to think who will pick up early wicket for us. Malinga good with the older ball & at the death where the variations comes into play more often. But he is not as much effective with the newer ball. If Lakmal is not going to play tomorrow I would think they will start with Malinga & Sachithra. Sachithra too is not a wicket taking option with the new ball.
Yes if play with Lakmal we will loose a batting option(Allrounder). But I don't mind that. Becoz still we have enough depth in our batting up to mendis. Cricket is not all about batting. We need good bowlers regardless of the format, who can pick up wickets and put opposition under pressure. Playing Lakmal is no harm as I can see. But I doubt they will go with Lakmal. But if selectors think positively and if they can realize the value of early wickets they would go with Lakmal otherwise will follow the conservative way. Which is not attacking but safety first option as always in SL cricket.
When we come to bat I'm sure they will start with Hafeez. We are having two left handers at the top. Hafeez is a left hander specialist. Kusal is our aggressor. But he struggles against spin. His footwork and working singles, even the attacking shots against spin still not very good. That's worrying me. No need to tell Sanga will be the key for us. If he fires and one or two others can give him enough support we have a good chance then.
Also I have a funny feeling what if Mahela opens. He may not in very good touch at the moment. But with the field restrictions & specially against spin he is excellent. If he and Kusal could open the innings it would be ideal. Then Mahela can take care of haffeez, in the mean time Kusal can look to score at the other end. These are only my suggestions. Don't worry they are not going to follow any of this.
