Graham Ford signs up for second spell as Sri Lanka Coach

Graham Ford has agreed to return to Sri Lanka for a second spell as national coach of the Sri Lanka cricket team. He has signed on from February 1 for a period of 45 months, President SLC told Ada Derana.



The 55-year-old South African previously coached Sri Lanka from 2012 until 2014, before taking over the reins at Surrey.



“We are extremely disappointed to be losing Graham Ford, who has not just been an outstanding head coach but has played an integral role in the progress that we have achieved over the last two years,” Surrey director of cricket Alec Stewart told the club’s official website.



Ford worked with former Sri Lanka star Kumar Sangakkara at Surrey and last season guided the club to the county championship second division title.



“He has worked tirelessly with the players and his efforts can be seen in their individual performances and the team’s results, culminating in promotion back to the first division,” added Stewart.



“It was a very tough decision for Graham to leave Surrey but we understand that the opportunity to go back and coach at international level with Sri Lanka was too good to turn down.



“Despite the timing of his decision, we wish Graham all the best and we will immediately start our search for a new head coach.”

The reason behind including Dilshan and Chandi is that we need experience in the team. Its not like we are ONLY giving youngsters a chance we still want to win, whether thats going to happen or not is whole other story.

regardless wht form he is in if you say Dickwella should be given a chance in T20 then thats probably a joke of the day

Abt Dikwella de T20 bat yes he doesn't have de muscles to power de ball but guy is piercing de field with ease (according my sources) ...machan see Williamson's batting its not abt de power its all abt placement n folks say tht Dikwella n Kusal mendis do process de same qualities of Williamson,Dikwella making runs right now so why not try him tht was my argument

Yeah true he has made some 50s. your point is right its not all about smacking. but as far as I see I really see some issues in his batting technique.he doesn't really get pitch to the ball. he always seems stuck in his crease. probably even chandimal has a better technique. true he his in form and his style of batting can be used as to what Williamson do for NZ. but given the technique Dickwella has and specially when you are not a guy who just come and smack the ball I doubt he will be successful in International T20. heck I he is not suited for Test either IMO. for those guys who just come and smack the ball, technique wouldn't matter much. but for people like Dickwella it does matter. and now if you look at Williamson he has a solid technique and thats why he is successful in his game. So its not all about the style of batting you need to have proper technique as well which I don't see in Dickwella unfortunately. not to mention if we are not resting Dilshan due to his experience and as we have Danushka I don't see Dickwella has any place in the squad either.
