Why is it a stupid move..
    Shavindra vs Shashindra.
    :)
Because if the Brig. gets in to politics at this time and become a candidate from the UNP, he'll get labeled as traitor within no time. That's why he wont stick his neck in these immediate elections.
The tide is all in for the PA right now so swimming against the tide will only get him drowned.

UNP ready to support the government to get IMF loan

The UNP is ready to support the government to secure the IMF loan provided it stops pasting the LTTE label on the party. UNP MP Dayasiri Jayasekera told a news conference today.

Your theory works well in Elakiri.
There is a group outside too,
    especially in media
    who can use it successfully.
    This news shows that
UNP too are concerned about the label now.

So people who approve IMF loan
may have a condition involved UNP back into politics.

I have a personal opinion that Govt. had to end war
    before the time they planned.
Did Shavindra have any hand in it?
Did IMF people have any hand in it?
Can Govt sustain the victorious feeling
longer than it is possible in our country.?
    Only time can tell.

    I was waiting to hear
    the victory speech by Mahinda,
but yesterday I completely forgot the celebration
till I watched 10pm Sirasa news..
    Over exposure?

Did not People vote Janaka Perera,

More than other UNP leaders in AP PC.

im not taking abt votes, in the CBK time cus of janakas politics he missed a chance to be the Army commander, again cus of politics he lost his life, ( the day he was opening his new UNP office ) for a Army personal if he get a chance to be the Army commander thats one hell of a achivement, so he should stayed away from politics

What im saying is Shavindra will not do the same mistake agian,

If same happens to Shavindra now
what would be the response of voters
    who supported war
    and worshipped war heroes unconditionally.
Who is more respectable by society,
A War Hero or a Politician.

After War hero comes to Politics then hes a politition too, so Rajapaksha company will run a gud campaign agianst even shavindra, thell say Shavindra join the party who sold the war, who try to gave land to LTTE etc,,, then the results will be Shavindra only will get UNP votes, the rest will goes to UPFA,

    Yes,
    it is obvious...
that is why they don't start anything yet in that direction.
    Hope is better.
    UVa PC election
will shed some light on the direction voters move.

Victory of the WAR itself is a good enough reason, which none could achieve!

Depends on how reasonable people are,
and whether they are ready to sacrifice
for a war which is over...
and how much a Memory of victory
help them to forget hunger any longer.
Poor people go through a kind of life
a rich would never be able even to imagine.
Both would look at the War
    in a same way...
    but for poor victory is
a hope of some food for starving days of their life.
    So everything depends on that,
    because majority are poor.
Yes, Propaganda can change their attitude toward war.
Do you think same would apply for hunger too?

Good point. I do agree on that point.
