In Sri Lankan context CIMA is doing well and it is very much recommended and welcomed by most of private sector employers. But if you are planning for an emigration, ACCA is more advantageous than CIMA, even though it is not that much welcomed as CIMA in Sri Lanka.

And speaking of contents, CIMA is more in to Management and ACCA is mainly concentrating on Accounting. At the end of the day CIMA will produce a General Manager while ACCA is capable of producing a well-off CFO.

ACA is something new to me. But I am suggesting you to consider ACASL (charted) also with this list.

    Good Luck !

Machang the story is like this. CIMA is well known in Sri Lanka and its more about general management theories although the apex is management accounting. It's not properly recognized in many developed countries including UK.

When it comes at ACCA and ACA it's purely accounting. As per my knowledge both are well recognized accounting qualifications worldwide.

It's upto you to decide what you are going to do but i can be certain about one thing that comes in to play, Experience. None of these are academic qualifications therefore it is expected that you are equipped with on the job experience. Without experience these are just paper qualifications. If you are academically engaged full time and hoping to pursue a career in Corporate Management then my suggestion is CIMA. The only thing that you should know about financial accounting is in Sri Lanka none of these qualifications offer the same rigor as ACASL does. It's torture compared to CIMA machang. So the final output(the qualified people_ of ACASL are very thorough in SL Accounting Standards and accounting in general.

All the best machang, what ever the path you choose.

100% true machan ..........Nowadays every one doing cima without knowing what is it..Anyhow cima will give you a broader knowledge in management accounting ,but not the financial accounting.anyway if u want to get the broder idea about the business, according to my opinion Cima is the a good option in the current situation ....If you are more interested in financial stuff go for ACASL/ACCA without wasting money for cima ....firstly think about what do u want to do in future and take decision machan,You should have to work hard to go through in these exams ,otherwise it will be just exporting rupees to the UK.......GDluck bro.....!!!!

if you want to be a management accountant go for CIMA, and like to be a Accountant who specialized in Accounting and finance go for ACCA.. ACCA like charted in Sri lanka..

as per my knowledge CIMA little bit ez, since it's covering major parts... but acca going far in accounting and finance... less in management....

if you can pass all, anything OK and you can earn big salaries...
