I don't think you even have a clue about the starting salaries in your own field.

Ah. So you found a random job vacancy and think thats the average starting salary? As I mentioned before, we hired a set of CSE and Moratuwa IT freshers for 4.5 laks last month. I’m talking about my field based on my experience. Not some random shit posted on the internet

Don't lie, bro. If that's the case, why did Mora CS suddenly drop below Civil Engineering?

Damn. You can’t even believe it. I’m surprised. Anyway you can go ask your friends working at top tier IT companies in SL. I don’t have any advantage trying to convince you.

Btw, I believe the drop is due to lack of opportunities. But that doesn’t mean companies with a standard are suddenly going to reduce salaries. The competition is insanely high, and they will hire best of the best for the same salary. I don’t know about the future. With increasing AI costs, companies might reduce the salaries. What I told you is the current status.

PS: saw this comment on reddit

Posting this myself cuz the original guys (aldenstrive) comment kept getting deleted (let's see if it happens to me aswell)

CSE lecturers scrutinize students’ grades much more harshly than those in other departments. Compared to departments such as ENTC and EE, students in the upper CSE batches currently at the university consistently have significantly lower GPAs. The department’s average GPA is considerably lower, and the number of students with GPAs above 3.7 is much smaller than in other departments within the same batch. A large part of the reason for this is that some lecturers treat students in an unpleasant manner and are unnecessarily harsh when grading.

For this reason, many students don’t recommend that juniors choose CSE. A lower GPA will close the door to opportunities such as higher studies, foreign internships, scholarships, and other opportunities. This is even more significant in today’s highly competitive academic and industry landscape. For example, anyone outside the department comparing a UoM CSE student with a student from another department or university will naturally assume the CSE student is less talented or less dedicated simply because of the significantly lower GPA, even though that simply isn’t true.

And don’t get me wrong—I’m not saying students from other universities or departments are less talented or less dedicated. Talking to friends in other departments, it seems their lecturers are generally much more supportive and approachable, and they don’t grade nearly as harshly.

As a first-semester student with a high GPA looking at this, staying as far away from CSE as possible would be the obvious choice.

I’ll just say you can’t wake someone who is pretending to be asleep. Anyway, it looks like you desperately need IT people to struggle. I don’t know the reason. But I’m really sorry about what happened to you. You should heal yourself.

I’m sure you have enough IT contacts. You can go to them if you need the truth. Peace ✌🏼

Peace. No hard feelings. Out of everyone mocking civil engineers, you were the only one who actually made some valid points.
