Yeah, it's easy to say that IT isn't just coding and that you can survive if you have a good skill set. But if that's true, why do I see posts every day on EK and Reddit about massive layoffs in the IT industry, while I hardly ever see layoffs in other engineering disciplines?

It's because IT is the currently most impacted one due to them being the most exposed to AI.

Pre recorded data.
Where does pre recorded data comes from ?
Standardised processes.


Check how many IESL college of engineering graduates are in the field. I personally know a few who has IESL membership but aren't in the field due to lack of opportunities sometime back. Not only MPR graduates have IESL qualification.

You get a bit taken back when NDT and HNDE fellows are mentioned. Same is for IT. Not all who work in the field are coders. There are specific skillsets.
