wrong.... most of those who already knows the importance of PC audio, they prefer mediocre VGA just to save enough money to get Soundcard.
and all those who are tired from following VGA trends that keeps changing every 3-6 months, most of them will migrate to audio world not so long after.

the same problem happens to Jesus.... he got crucified becoz of his love for humans......

all good intention are rarely accepted easily.

what happens to those who are willing to be interested? and in need of a guidance?

sorry, i disagree,
even for X-Fi.... using better speaker or audiophile bookshelf speakers will be a complete waste of money.

please do remember that as good as x-fi gets... it is still not an audiophile grade DAC, none of PC soundcards are! therefor... using too expensive bookshelf setup will only make it sound worse.

mark my word.

SPDIF dude SPDIF.....
and receivers...
you know that most of the pc users..(not in SL)
now uses high end receivers for there audio needs..
pls remember it..
:P

if ppl think it's a complete waste of money... why bother looking at it... let alone replying to it:lol:

plus... from the way the replied the threads.... they seems to be quite interested too.... hahahahahhahahaha

actually this is the only forum that i think too different from any other PC forums around the world.....
even in my country, audio is very well accepted.

did you know that..
we are paying a rent more than..
your paying for a 6mb DSL...
so when it comes to pc's our priority is for the games..
BTW i played Bioshock and used a head phone for sounds..

i pay $80 monthly for my internet.
i sell hi-end audio equipments such as HTPC, Bookshelf speakers, Headphones, Amplifiers, Preamps, Receivers, and Cables....

just to let you know, after observing awhile, other forum has bigger gaming community than this forum....
and guess what..... most of them uses atleast Audigy or X-Fi:lol:

try venturing out of the box once in a while.... try other well known forum such as Chip, Head-fi, tweakguides, techpowerup, lowyat, ocn, etc etc etc.....

we are not always right.... but closing our thought to other opinions is not wise.

But you miss one important factor. Here, only the components that have good sales (such as CPUs, RAM, hard disks...) have a "fair" price. All these "out of the box thinking" stuff such as overclocking mobo's, highend VGA, highend sound cards have a premium that's not fair at all.

no.... someone just sent me a screenshot of this thread....
so i think i drop off a bit, and shed some light to the one who needs it.

i'm almost everywhere to tell you the truth.... almost on every audio forum/subforum..... but lately i've been active just on 1 particular forum which server originating from US.

no, that one doesn;t involve PC....
but i still have examples involving hi-end PC audio setup using Analog RCA....
try..... Echo Audiofire, Onkyo, and ESI Juli@... those are among the best of near-audiophile grade DACs.

ever wonder how much X-Fi costs in Indonesia? it's $165.........
the original suggested price for retailer is $60 for Christ sake!
but that doesn't stop us from getting those cards... why? some of us know that we need it..... we simply can;t switch back to onbard....

why?

this will be answered when you yourself have tried using a decent soundcard yourself.

You are quite rite....90% in SL wont need a sound card.....thats is because ppl dont know about the wonderful qualities a sound card has to offer...As a member mentioned above if u take a 6800GT n X-Fi platinum 99% will take the 6800.....
Im trying to do some good to the people here....to show em what a sound card is....bt no one can help ppl are so stubborn.......
For example:The native Sri Lankans didnt want to work with the british because they were so arrogane n strong headed....so the british had to bring tamils in from India to work for the british....N now what is the situation in the country?

Sorry everybody urgently need to go out of the topic to give an answer!!

I'll tell you what... I can now understand how you gauge the other situations too!! Like how you've come to a conclusion from Colonial rule!!

So like you say we were suppose to work for them while they kept destroying everything we had and sucking out all our natural resources? Dude! Wakeup! If Sinhalese were willingly work under British, make no mistake we'll still be under British rule! Sinhalese are the ones who spearheaded and fought for our freedom! IF YOU'VE ALREADY FORGOTTEN IT!!

Now please stop being so sarcastic about your own nation (If you are a true Sri Lankan that is.. else I understand)!!

yup..
and FYI most of the above brands..
makes worlds best AV receivers...
why you need to use RCA when you..
can use a simple SPDIF output...
so you can use true audiophile quality DAC's..
from your AV receivers...
and you didnt mean that high end soundcards..
are greater than high end AV Receivers..??
:)

NO!
why didn;t you read my post from the other thread carefully?
i have already explain what is a soundcard... and what is receiver.....

a soundcard is a DAC
while a receiver is a RECEIVER............
it's like 2 totally different things!
you cannot use a receiver without a soundcard, be it onboard or add-in.

and no... digital or spdif is not the best connection used in audio..... and this is already known by all hi-end audio player.
try searching for world best sound amplifiers...... see if they have digital/spdif inputs

i suppose you don't know what is an amplifier too......

thats depend on your taste..
i wont use my receiver for playing games..
i mostly use it to play songs from my pc...
when im playing a song the pc is in idle state..
so the re-sampling wont happen... (didnt test the HDCD thing yet..)
So i need a good graphics card..
but i know Indonesians..
they need perfect systems..
they blame even for a small lag in the game.. :P
i wonder they play dota using a 5.1 system..
:P

resampling or not.... i;ve explained about digital data passing through onboard and offboard soundcard......
still the quality differs even if it's just passing through.

and, no not all indonesian can afford decent setup.... most of use ask about which setup is best suited for them price/performance, and they're quite open to suggestions.
that's why sometime we indonesian can utilize cheap setup to produce greater audio quality..... coz we do lotsa asking and experimenting.... mix & match.

it's not about nationality..... it's about the character of each person.... are you willing to accept the facts?
becoz this matter is not something debateable.... why? coz some experts already did decades ago, and proven worldwide.
