Machan i never said onboard is not good dont use it........i wanted the ppl to know that a X-Fi card will blow the onboard to bits........i must say im really in to audio...i gave up my 6800GT n got a X-Fi plat maself....i waz having a Audigy 2 ZS....n the X-Fi was a great improvement....the sound is more crisp...the tone of the vocals are awesome.....n the games are so so realistic......i want the ppl to know (ppl in SL) that there are many more things than graphics cards n processors.......
Spending on a sound card is not like spending on a Core 2 duo......next 2 or 3 year s another processor will come n u wont be able to do the things in that time in you r previous processor.....sound card is totally diff.....it will last at lest 5 years......
See the excitement you have machan. You are just blind over it. I know you are an audiophile or an audio lover and you like to spend lot of money even for the small improvement(talking like normal person) you gain from Audigy 2 ZS to X-Fi Platinum. yes, you have to spend money on what makes you happy and what makes you excite. Anyway you got to understand machan its not applicable to every one. Just give any of these guys a Audigy 2 ZS and ask them to choose 6800GT or X-Fi Platinum. 99% people will say 6800GT coz they already have the Audigy2 ZS which is a much better sound card when you compare with a onboard. So you can see you have a special interest here. And its not applicable to everybody.

I know you are trying to pass the excitement you have to others and i saw you are telling about audio quality improvement you gain over the onboard in other threads. Since you can't impress people for it now you open a thread saying about the small CPU usage improvement. Machan describe audio improvements you get talk about 24bit, SNR, X RAM, filters, samples, clarity etc.. Then ask them to go and really hear the difference them selfs. but if they are not impressed then just leave it. Don't try to force them or make them feel good since it has small bit of CPU advantage. Its just showing only you are too excited and blind over something.

Audio is something you should feel if not no use spending money for it. No need of tech specs or comparisons if you can't feel the improvement then its not for you. Anyway machan you are not alone there are thousands of audio lovers like you who like to spend money on a X-Fi so its their specific taste. So remember its not for all.

I know you will say this guy haven't met with an X-Fi, When one of my friends making a kickass rig i made him buy a X-Fi Fatal1ty FPS to use with his Logitech z5500.
I tried so much to make it sound good but its not the fault of X-Fi but z5500 sucks! X-Fi sounds superb with my Altec Lansing MX5021.
I know a studio where they use X-Fi Elite Pro too. So i am telling after listening to X-Fi. I know its sounds better but you got to have expensive speakers and even more you got to feel that you are paying big money for a better audio improvement that you can justify. If you really can't or feel the improvement for your money then leave the specs or what others saying and go on with what you already have now. Thats it!

Agreed with GTRZ.....bt as 4 Z5500 is a PC sound system....u can only compare it with a PC sound system....the only thing u get here to compete with that is the Creative speakers n altec lancing etc(good quality 1s) there are things like mercury bt i think u get my point....Short n simple Z5500 will destroy any creative including the gigaworks 550.....BUT that is only for movies and games....for slow audiophile music a high end creative system is better.....or at lest i think so.....

wrong.... most of those who already knows the importance of PC audio, they prefer mediocre VGA just to save enough money to get Soundcard.
and all those who are tired from following VGA trends that keeps changing every 3-6 months, most of them will migrate to audio world not so long after.

the same problem happens to Jesus.... he got crucified becoz of his love for humans......

all good intention are rarely accepted easily.

what happens to those who are willing to be interested? and in need of a guidance?

    sorry, i disagree,
even for X-Fi.... using better speaker or audiophile bookshelf speakers will be a complete waste of money.

please do remember that as good as x-fi gets... it is still not an audiophile grade DAC, none of PC soundcards are! therefor... using too expensive bookshelf setup will only make it sound worse.

    mark my word.

ever wonder why audio subforum on any other PC forum is always second to graphics(in terms of replies and views)?

try opening a thread asking about it on other forum.

Simple...because people think it is a waste of money to buy a good sound card over a good vga card. (most people)

that doesn't seem to be relevant to my post......
if ppl think it's a complete waste of money... why bother looking at it... let alone replying to it:lol:

plus... from the way the replied the threads.... they seems to be quite interested too.... hahahahahhahahaha

actually this is the only forum that i think too different from any other PC forums around the world.....
even in my country, audio is very well accepted.

Well...you misunderstood me. That bolded over word make it a valid comment. If a person have a top end VGA card, he should be buying a good sound card.

But if a person has integrated video and integrated audio, and if he gets to spend USD200 on any one of them, he would definitely go for the VGA, because the return he gets from it is much more significant. (sometimes a 10 fold performance increase with a VGA card...and how much would he get from a sound card?)

I'm not an audio person. I mean, I like sound, but I'm fine with integrated audio just like most people are.

    That's utterly low-level comment!

How can you command someone to post or not to post? So in other words the only ones who are eligible to comment on this thread are the ones that agree with you? People have a right to question and to express their views if you can't take it that's your problem!

If you are not used to people who doesn't take anything for granted then this is not the forum for you I'm sorry!!
