India-made Renault Kwid confirmed for South Africa
Posted on: Jun 7, 2016 - 9:00am IST
Will be launched in late-2016 or early-2017.
The India-made Renault Kwid was most recently launched in Sri Lanka. The French automaker’s Indian subsidiary is exploring new export markets for the new mini car, and South Africa is one of them bound to make it to that list. According to a report from wheels24, Renault South Africa has confirmed that it plans to launch the India-made Kwid in late-2016 or early-2017.

Renault’s export plan is to initially focus on right-hand drive markets.
The report says that the Renault Kwid sold in South Africa will be powered by the 0.8-litre SCe three-cylinder petrol engine that produces 54 PS at 5,678 rpm and 72 Nm of torque at 4,386 rpm, possibly mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. There’s no speak of the bigger, more powerful 1.0-litre SCe three-cylinder petrol engine or the automated manual transmission though.

The Renault Kwid is the first car to be based on the A version of the Renault-Nissan Alliance’s CMF (Common Module Family) platform and a very important export model for Renault India. Besides neighboring countries, export plans also include Iran, Russia, Africa and South America. Right-hand drive countries will be the first ones receiving the India-made Kwid. Exports to Kenya, Brazil and SAARC countries will commence later this year.

my friend you are not getting the point I have made here. remove your japanese indian glasses. this is Renault KWID

Renault shows what makes a small car great:
http://www.smmt.co.uk/2015/01/renault-twingo-small-cars-great/

What is your point Shan?
And please reduce size of that pic, messes up the whole page!
the point is its Renault kwid french brand manufactures in india.
if a japanese car of this segment priced for the same I would go for it.
but there are no brandnew japanese for the price tag, so this is the best second option
sorry for the size of the image i posted, its a captur, it has all safety options and its from renault
so u think like this? any source to prove? i doubt about that. Do you think car can hold a crash? dude whats the weight of the car? i heard the fuel consumption is quiet impressive than maruti. i dont think thats because of the engine from renault, or technology nor smthing else. defntly theyve reduced the weight. reducing weight means etc.... i think i dnt have to explain further about the strength of the body. From those indian cars just k10 is bit better.. a strength body (more weight) with 1000cc engine. They keep reducing the weight of maruti bcz of fuel economy. Im pretty sure the kwid is lighter than the maruti. Thats what indians trick. So the conclusion from my side is Kwid cant take damage even like a maruti.
And we never compare suzuki with maruti suzuki... likewise hero honda vs honda. theres a huge difference between them even with the technologies.
If ur jst riding in roads with traffics u dont need to worry about safety. this will be your best shot.
i was talking about the renault captur it has all safety options

You know there is nothing similar between Captur and KWID rite? Don't expect KWID's build quality to be anywhere near the Captur because of the Renault badge. The only thing Renault had in mind when designing the KWID is cost-cutting and it shows. Even plastic parts in Alto are in better shape than the KWID.
