Generally when a script is executed it would create a process, the process will remain open until the PHP script has completed loading or been killed.
For example, a user visits your website http://www.stevo.com/ – your site takes 1 second to load, your account will generate a processor which looks something along the lines of:
/home/stevo/public_html/index.php <---- 1 processor running.
That entry process will remain open for 1 second and then disappear once the site has completed loading.
Cron jobs work exactly the same way, so if you create a cron job which runs once an hour, then a processor will be created in favor of that cron job until it completes or is killed.
The above is the basics to how EP works with CloudLinux, it can get pretty technical from there on.
