This is a good topic and I wanna share my experience with u guys

I work for a reputed company in SL and I do some consulting work for some firms

The most common mistake people make is they prepare aa general CV

Ie network engineer with CCNA or Microsoft certifications
Unless u have contacts in a company u r going to apply u have like 0.01% or less chance of getting the job

Cuz now everyone has CCNA and ccnp and beleive me my company has 80+ interns who has ccna np mcsa......only 10 was selected without reference

In Europe and us they have career guidance they guide you to select your career but we don't have them here or I haven't heard of them here

So for a person who is into networking how to get a job
U need to brach out ur CV
Eg.
Only switching or routing
Y only one subject cuz a general network administrator who handles switching routing all the stuff is either lying or just studying ccna lol

So what's branching out ?
Networking
- switching
- routing
- voice
- security
- datacenter
Etc..... More sub branches

And then there's products based braches ie Cisco juniper extream ...... HP..... Etc

Now how are you going to select and which branch is good for your career ?
First do a through market research on jobs and what the companies want what are their requirements
Most SL companies nowadays request Linux guys with good Firewall knowledge

And invest your time on that

Or...... Telecommunications industry require JUNIPEer engineers so go into that

Select a branch or a sub branch never stay general

And another best thing to do is lookup CVs of guys who work for big companies

Okay that's it I'm tired typing on my mobile just my two cents hope this helps
