Surviving on a Government Salary in SL

Guys,

I have noticed that a majority of people are trying to find a government job (salary range below 50K) and even if they end up in a private sector job they end up on salaries lower than LKR 100k.

What intrigues me is how do they survive on such low salaries? eg: I spend over 300K a month that is with a family of 3.

So how do they do it ban? I mean build a house, buy a car etc?

most government people live in parents property. little housing loan to repair the house. mostly bike not the car. if both doing the job, will buy a car but still it will be kept in the house they will continue to travel by bike. mostly scooters

ඕකට උත්තර දෙකක් තියෙනව මිනිස්සුන්ට. වෙනස තියෙන්නෙ කියන්නෙ පළවෙනි උත්තරේ කරන්නෙ දෙවෙනි එක.

1. සෝෂල් මීඩියා වල දාන, කවුරුහරි ඇහුවොත් කියන උත්තරේ : මම නං ප්‍රයිවට් එකට තමයි යන්නෙ.
2. ඇත්තටම කරන නමුත් ප්‍රසිද්ධියේ නොකියන එක : මම ගවන්මන්ට් ජොබ් එකට යනවා.

වැඩ නොකර පඩි ගන්නව කියන එක නම් මම පිළිගන්නෙ නෑ 99% ම. වැඩ නොකර පඩි ගන්න උවමනා නිසා ගවන්මන්ට් ජොබ් හොයන්නෙ නැතුව ඇති බහුතරය. මම දකින දේ තමයි පඩි අඩු උනත් නිදහසක්, ඉන්කම් සෙකියුරිටි එකක්, වැඩ වෙලාවෙන් පස්සෙ වැඩ ගැන හිතන්න වෙන්නෙ නැති ජොබ් එකෙන් පිට ජීවිතයක්, ෆැමිලි ලයිෆ් එකක් තියෙන්න ඕන අය ඒවට යන්න බලනවා කියලා. මම ආණ්ඩුවෙ ජොබ් එකකට යනව නම් ඒව තමයි හේතු. (ඉන්කම් සෙකියුරිටි එක ඇර) එතකොට ඒ ඒ කන්ඩිෂන්ස් කොච්චර සැපිරෙනවද කියන එක අනුව තමයි යන එක තීරණය වෙන්නෙ.

මම ඉන්න ෆීල්ඩ් එක ගත්තොත් ආයෙ කිසිම දවසක ප්‍රයිවට් එකක ජොබ් එකට යන්න කිසිම ආසාවක් නෑ විශේෂයෙන්ම ලංකාව වගේ නොදියුණු රටවල් වල. කවදහරි එහෙම ගියා කිව්වොත් ඒ කියන්නෙ මට හොඳ එකෙන්ම කෙළවිලා.

අවු 20 ක් රජයේ සේවයේ වැඩ කරලා තියෙනවා. 1991 - 2011

ඇයි මම රජෙයේ රස්සාවක් කලේ කියල අද හිතල බලන විට......

1. පුද්ගලයෙක් යටතේ වැඩ කිරීම , සුරා කැමකට ලක් වීමක් කියල හැගීමක් තිබුන. අඩු පඩියට උනත් රජයට සේවය කිරීමෙන් සතුටක් ලැබුන.
2. රජයේ සේවයේ උසස් වීම් ගැන ලොකු ආශාවක් තිබුන. පුද්ගලික අංශයට වඩා , රජයේ උසස් වීමේ පටිපාටිය සාදාරනයි කියල හිතුව.
3. සේවයේ සුරක්ෂිත බව ගැන ලොකු විශ්වාසයක් තිබීම නිසා සතුටක් ලැබුවා.
4. විශ්‍රාම වැටුප , ETF එකකට වඩා හොදයි කියල හිතුව.
5. නිවාඩු ගන්න ලේසි නිසා සහ නිවාඩු ගොඩක් තියෙන නිසා , මානසික නිදහසක් තිබුන. (දින 21යි , ඊට පස්සේ තව දින 24 කුයි තිබුන. ගිය වසරේ දින 24 න් ඉතිරි තිබුනානම් ඒවත් ගන්න පුළුවන් කම තිබුන. ඊටත් පස්සේ තවත් අත්‍යවශ්‍ය නිවාඩු ඕන උනානම්, සේවය කල ඕනිම වසර දෙකක ඉතිර නිවාඩු 24 X 2 ගන්න පුළුවන් කම තිබුන)
6. කල යුතු වැඩ ප්‍රමාණයක් තිබුනත්, පුද්ගලික අංශයේ ඊට වඩා බොස්ගෙන් ලැබෙන පීඩනය වැඩියි කියල හිතුව.

මේ තියෙන්නෙ මම කියපු හේතු ටිකම තමයි.

විදේශ සේවයේ වැඩ කරන්න ලැබුණා. එහෙම ඉන්න විට Green card එක ලැබුණා. එහෙම USA ඇවිත් දැන් ආයේ මෙහෙත් රජයේ රැකියා වක් කරනවා.

ආ.... මෙහේ විශ්‍රාම යන වයස 62-69. තව දහයක් ඉන්න වෙනවා

A salary is a temporary solution for a permanent problem.
When it goes up, your living conditions goes up. The underlying problem remains the same (unless you are really really good at pulling off some strategy).

most of them are racist....and cannot speak english. except for some senior roles.
pension is funded by us ...they dont contribute to anything.
most of them are poor anyway so they dont really care much about dressing or socilasing.

I once went to a workshop and it was for 9 days. it was for private and govt employees. the govt fellows had come because it was paid for them...where we had to pay our own money.

they all sat to together in one group and didnt talk much with anyone ....felt really out of the way body lanuguage shows that they were not comfortable. after 5 days they stopped coming. for them leadership and programmes were like useless.
they were only worried about what bus we can take to go home at 4.30pm. i actually was worried about these jokers working in govt departments. no wonder sri lanka is like this.

once i went to inland revenue department. in the 11th floor i saw some girls walking without shoes. another girl was having and FM radio and listening to Hiru. they were like annoyed when you come for work.

another time when i went to RMV i saw one girl combing the hair of another girl. she had a novel in her hand......

simply, they are searching government jobs to get a salary without doing anything and get a pension after the service.
as they can not survive from that, people used to get bribes, do other jobs
