Using the version 1 lens... what is the prime purpose of you to take a wide angle lens? good lens , made in Japan, well built, but there are some corner distortion on version 1, I heard the Version 2 is much better than the Version one, This lens is very sharp, you know the picture distortion of wide angle lenses, so you have to find good software like DXO to correct it.

what is the price diff compare to the nikon DX wide angel? but it is less than Nikon and better than it , Only thing it is not Auto Focus, (Tokina lens does not have built in motor).

I'll be using this for landscape photography. And I am not a pro still learning the subject. I already got the lens kit comes with the camera and a Nikon 70-300mm.

Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 10-24mm f/3.5-4.5G ED is around $1000. and this is around $550. So price and the f/2.8 are the advantages compared to other models. This version has auto-focus.

D5300 does not have focus motor....

I just check this lens, it is good and this is have the internal motor so it is much better than Version one... if you really need it go for it..​

D5300 does not have focus motor....

as far as i know d5300 has built in autofocus.
