The next Call of Duty is a Modern Warfare game


Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 isn't even a week old, but that hasn't stopped word of the next game in the all-conquering first-person shooter series hitting the internet.

According to Siliconera, voice actors are doing their thing for the next Call of Duty game in Los Angeles as we speak. This Call of Duty 2013 game takes place in the Modern Warfare arc and the main character is “a battle hardened veteran in his mid-thirties with a nihilistic point of view”.

Siliconera published extracts from the script, which read like a Call of Duty game should sound. One scene is said to take place in Somalia with John "Soap" MacTavish. This, according to Siliconera, is a flashback.

The news backs up comments made by Billy Murray, the actor who voices series stalwart Captain Price, last month. Murray leaked the confirmation to This is Xbox after unknowingly sitting next to one of its editors on a plane."On Monday I am off to meet Infinity Ward about the next game, Modern Warfare 4," he said. "I'm doing work on the sequel to Modern Warfare 3, it carries straight on and I only ever appear in the Modern Warfare games…"

After that story broke Infinity Ward denied meeting with Murray about Modern Warfare 4. "Interesting news today, but it's not true," said the developer on Twitter. "We've not talked with any voice actors, so all news is speculation."

Borderlands 2's Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage DLC confirmed

The Borderlands 2 DLC leaked last month in a PS3 trophy data update has been officially confirmed by Gearbox.

The add-on entitled Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage was announced over twitter on Gearbox's fake account for the Borderlands 2 character, Mr. Torgue, a weapons manufacturer."Are you badass enough to survive 'Mister Torgue's Campaign of Carnage?" read the tweet. "I'm legit curious cause I dunno you that well."

The account later added, "here's a picture of me throwin up the horns like a badass."Gearbox confirmed to us that the price will be the same as that of the last DLC, Captain Scarlett and her Pirate's Booty, i.e. 800 Microsoft Points or £6.20 / $9.99. A release date will be announced in a couple of days.

Dark Knight Rises' Bane cast as Sam Fisher in new Splinter Cell movie

The Dark Knight Rises and Inception star Tom Hardy has been cast as the lead character in Ubisoft's new Splinter Cell movie.

Hardy will play Sam Fisher in a story scripted by Eric Warren Singer, who penned 2009 Clive Owen thriller The International.The news follows Ubisoft's recent signing of Inglorious Basterds star Michael Fassbender for the upcoming Assassin's Creed film.The Splinter Cell movie is still early in production, Variety reports, without a studio or director attached.

"Tom Hardy is currently one of the biggest talents in the film industry, and he has a phenomenal ability to take on complex and varied roles with his broad range of acting skills," Ubisoft Motion Pictures boss Jean-Julien Baronnet said. "His involvement in the 'Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell' movie is exciting news for movie and video game fans alike.

"Meanwhile, Eric Singer is one of the most talented writers of the moment, and we're confident he'll bring a fresh approach and create a thrilling story while still respecting all the codes and traditions of the franchise that are so important to fans."

Ubisoft's Assassin's Creed film is scheduled to shoot next summer. Tom Hardy's take on Splinter Cell's goggled hero is likely not far behind.
