the elder one already went through lot of sufferings ant still, he would prefer to be dead and put an end the misfortune life, it's quite related to karma, why would someone extend his life to suffer more when he already went trough shitt ..
younger one deserves to live

his extended suffering is more feasible than a horrible death.. from your logic we should advocate suicide to anyone who feel depressed of has minor issue in life,,

my philosophy is , as a civilization we should try to minimize suffering of all human being...

Can you ensure to have a happy ending to his life too? Being old is already misery as people are incapable of doing their day-to-day activities. Some even can't walk, some can't have a proper sleep. Some can't eat a proper meal since no teeth in the mouth. So isn't he dyinf?

So his life'd be more miserable if you let him to live.

Sometimes burning alive takes 5 minutes of suffering. What if he gets a germ inside and suffwr weeks before he dies. What if hw paralyzed and die without eating and on a pool of his ueine and shit for weeks before death? Yet so you tell burning alive is suffering relative to what I reffered?

depressed and ability to do things are not same, from the topic you made, you have clearly mentioned the old guy has nothing to do but give up on his life. the thing is how they embrace it, elder would think this is how it's going to end with his past experiences and, he would accept it, but the younger ? he would never expected a horrible death as you mentioned since he had nothing to worry about his perfect life. remove horrible death just call it as death, then it would much easier to realize.
no one deserves a horrible death! younger or elder! religions aside ! it's their luck, we would make thousand reason to save the elder or kill him without any reason
