Totally agree with you.. I dont have a degree... but what you said is 100% true. I worked for one of the largest company in SL. They do the same always. Advertising the vacancies that already filled. and interviewing poor candidates. wasting all the time and money of that persons. If you already thought about the following, well I confirm the same,
1) Majority of the SL jobs are filled by recommendations. For the common man it's nearly impossible to get into a reputed company without the pull.
2) Therefore the jobs that are advertised are sometimes already filled but for the sake of showing to the world that their recruitment process is visible and fair they advertise.
3) The advertised job is available but there going to be some thousand candidates for the job, so the chance of success is very less.
Your friend too must be over 25 and therefore it must be very tough for him to stay unemployed. It is a famous situation for most state university graduates. I too have this friend, who graduated with a BSc from a state university, at 26 or so but still couldn't find a job, therefore now working for a small shop. Please ask him to do something he likes, which earns him even 10,000, without running behind a mirage as life only gets harder for the unemployed.
This is why I always say to the youth here, not to waste time doing ALs, but to do a private uni degree and graduate at a very young age like 20 or start your own business at 16 itself.

nowadays doing a degree is something which everyone looks forward in doing. if they don't have a degree,it's like u are an incomplete person.
it's ok to do something and get a degree, i also completed my CIM. but i stopped there and now i started working for my father's company. Now i'm getting a lot of experience from that.
First thing is we must have money.
IT'S POINTLESS TO HAVE A DEGREE IF U CAN'T EVEN EARN YOUR DAILY LIVING
that's just my view friends. i may be wrong, but that's what i felt about higher education and degrees and things like that.
