Some years back got re-bar from agent for slab about 1000 sq ft. Few Rs cheaper for each re-bar. But dumb agent didn't give transport. So I had to arrange transport. Time spent since transport not available when we want. I had to check the re-bar count at loading. I followed transport truck so that bugger does not "accidentally" drop a few re-bar

. Then to make sure, anyway checked re-bar count at unloading. I can't remember exact figures.
Another slab close in size, got re-bar from hardware. Cost little more. No additional charge for transport since a lot of re-bar. may be hardware bugger covering it from additional cost and patronage

. Checked count AND brand at unloading.
sometimes hardware try to send a few re-bar different brand

I even called lanwa factory. They said if more than so much cwt it will be worth getting direct from them. Can't remember what weight they said. Can't remember if they give transport and if they do give if it is f.o.c. you can call and see.
If some other brand like melwa, cost may be lot less.
So for me:
agent cost saving + transport cost + bother > hardware cost
for slabs, I have done manual contract and also readymix some years back.
I looked in to doing Pure manual way.
Pure manual I mean, you have to hire out hoist, cement mixer and operator, poker vibrators, and even extra wheel barrow and shovels and thachchi in addition to materials. Bass and his people will do the job. Bit of a bother syncing everything. So did not do that way.
Manual contract I have given to some guys who specialize in doing concrete slabs who bass knew. Have to provide cement sand and metal, they have their people and equipment. Bit easy, but not sure if they use the correct mix.

These lazy buggers expect the material to be right next to the mixer, so if you don't have enough space, have to arrange with hardware to supply the material as it gets consumed. If there is a traffic block it will be interesting!.
For manual methods, time is more. You need space to store material. Lot of space if you get the material beforehand. If it rains a bit of a bother specially if the cement is out. also since it takes long time. Some cement mixers and poker vibrators run on electricity. So be lucky not to have an unexpected power cut. Also be lucky not to have an unexpected water cut when concreting is done halfway

.
Ready mix is easy. Mix "may be" sure if company is good

. Cost is more. You need space for pump car to park and extend stabilizer arms (and may be block the road

), and road should be wide enough for mixer trucks and pump car to come. Job is quick. Leveling crew may be separate. For everything you don't have to provide anything much. In my case only had to give a bag or two cement to put in to pump car at the start. Sometimes redaymix buggers will need your water supply. Sometimes they will bring water browser too. At the end of the show some concrete left in pump car. they will dump it and go. Be ready to use that for something as you are paying for that too. Some readymix take job only if slab area big.
Some manual contract fellows also like that.
If slab small, then your own bass may be the option.
Overall "හොද හා ලාභදායිම" may not match.
Other guys in Elakiri may have different experience
