අඩො මෙක බලපන් මෙ ඉන්ඩෙක්ස් එකට අනුව ලංකාව ඉන්නෙ ඉතා පහල (Very Low) මට්ටමෙ. අපි ඉන්න ගොඩෙ මැදපෙරදිග සෙරම රටවල් සෙට් එක වගෙම තායිලන්තෙත් ඉන්නවා. අපෙ අසල්වැසි ඉන්දියාව නම් හොඳයි (High) කියන මට්ටමෙ ඉන්නවා .
ටොප් එකට ඇවිල්ලා තියෙන්නෙ යුරොපෙ රටවල් ගොඩක්ම .ඔය නොර්ඩික් ස්කැන්ඩිනෙවියන් රටවල් සෙට් එක සුපුරුදු පරිදි අනෙකුත් බොහොමයක් සුභවාදි දර්ශක වල ඉහළ ස්තානය මෙන්.
අනික වැදගත්ම කාරණෙ තමා මෙ ඉංග්‍රිසි දෙවෙනි බසක් ලෙස ප්‍රවීණතාවෙන් උඩින්ම ඉන්න එහෙමත් නැත්ත ඉතා හොඳ මට්ටමෙ රටවල් සියල්ලම වගෙ තමන්ගෙ මව්භාෂාව ගුරු කොට මව්භාෂාවෙන් වැඩ කරන්න පුරුදු වෙච්ච රටවල්. එත් ඉංග්‍රිසි ගුරුකොට මව් බස දෙවැනි කොට සලකන අපෙ වගෙ රටවල් ඉන්නෙ හුඟක් පහලින්.
ඉන්දියාව උඩින් ඉන්නෙ මන් හිතන්නෙ ඔය රිසර්ච් එක කරන්න ඇත්තෙ අදාල රටවල් වලට ගිහින් නෙමෙ .රිසර්ච් එක කරපු කුමන යම් හො රටෙ ඉන්න අනෙක් රටවල් වලින් පැමිණිච්ච සංක්‍රමණිකයන්ගෙ දත්ත වලින් .
ඉන්දියාව ටිකක් උඩට ඇවිල්ලා ඇත්තෙ උන්ගෙ රටෙ ප්‍රාන්ත වල තියෙන විවිධත්වය නිසා. මොකද ඉංග්‍රිසි පොදු සන්නිවෙදන මාධ්‍යක් විදියට ප්‍රාන්ත අතර භාවිතා වෙනවා ඇති.
එහෙම නොවුනා නම් ඉන්දියාවට ඇපත් නැහැ .
මෙකෙ අරන් තියෙන්නෙ ඉංග්‍රිසි භාෂව මව් භාෂාව නොවන රටවල් සෙට් එක
ඉතිං මෙච්චර ලොකු ටොක්ස් දුන්නාට අපෙ රටෙ එවුන්ට කඩ්ඩ බැරි ඇයි ?? හෙතු කියපල්ලා

ලංකාවෙ ඉංග්ලිෂ් මීඩියම් කරන්න අමාරුයි බන් .සමාජෙ හැටියට.
මොකද භාවිතාවක් නැහැ නෙ. කරනවා නම් අර කැම්පස් වල වගෙ ඔක්කොම මුළු ඉස්කොලෙම ඉංග්‍රිසියෙන් කරවන්න ඔනෙ. ඔය බණ්ඩාරනායක සිංහල රාජ්‍ය භාෂාව කරන්න කලින් එහෙම තිබ්බාළු .ඉස්කොලෙ එක පන්තියක් ඉංග්ලිෂ් මීඩියම් කරලා අනෙක් උන් සිංහලෙන් කතා කරද්දි ඉංග්ලිෂ් මිඩියම් එවුන් දිහා අනෙ උන් බලන්නෙ හෙන වෛරයකින් වගෙ. එතකොට ඉංග්ලිෂ් මීඩියම් එවුන් අනෙක් සිංහලෙන් කරන උන් දිහා බලන්නෙ අඩු කුලෙ එවුන් වගෙ.
අනික රටෙම ඉන්ග්ලිෂ් මීඩියම් කරන්න නම් ඉස්කොල ටික උගන්වන ගුරුවරුත් ඉංග්ලිෂ් හොඳට තියෙන්නෙ එපැයි.

so if it is all discussions are going to be in English i am pretty sure that there wont be any political discussion in EK anymore .

හැබැයි මැදපෙර දිග ගොඩක් ඉන්දියන් උන් තමන්ගෙ රටෙ වෙනත් ප්‍රාන්තවල එවුන් එක අදහස් හුවමාරු කරගන්නෙ හින්දියෙන්. එත් සමහරක් වෙලාවට තමන්ගෙම ප්‍රාන්තවල එවුන් එක්ක කඩ්ඩෙන් කොට කොට යනවා.
මන් හිතන්නෙ ඉන්දියාවෙ පොඩිකාලෙ ඉඳන්ම හැම ඉස්කොලෙකම ඉංග්‍රිසියෙන් ඉගැන්වීම අනිවාර්‍යද කොහෙද. එක තමා උන්ගෙ ප්‍රවීණතාව අපිට වැඩිය වැඩි.
අනික මෙ ලිස්ට් එකෙ ටොප් එකෙ ඉන්න රටවල් එකක්වත් ඉංග්‍රිසි වලට වැඩිය තමන්ගෙ මව් භාෂාව ප්‍රමුඛ කරන් ඉන්න කට්ටිය. එක හොඳටම තෙරෙනවා එකි රටවල් වලට යන්න බොහො විට ඒ රටෙ මව්භාෂාව ගැන දැණිමක් ඉල්ලනවා. එත් මව් භාෂාවට වැඩිය ඉංග්‍රිසි ප්‍රමුඛ කරගත්ත රටවල් එකක්වත් ටොප් 10 වල නැහැ.

One doesn't really have to be proficient in English to participate in a discussion,

IMO, majority of Sri Lankans who claim they speak English have the shittiest grammar. Take your kid to a school, and listen to how the mothers talk with each other. Ever heard someone talking English, and suddenly say "නේ , අනේ , අය්යෝ", etc. If you want to talk in English, talk in proper English. Use proper Sinhalese otherwise. I take my kid to the preschool, every minute I stay among those mothers is irritating.

I studied in English medium till O/Ls. We had a social studies teacher. His English was shit. Like really bad.
He used to teach English language for other O/L classes. Good times.

if someone want learn and speaking an English in proper way, so he must have surround with proper English speakers.
but in Sri Lanka English learners are only surrounding with people who got same accent as themselves and blending our own Native dialect with English.
This is the major reason still we are in low level at English proficiency.
