President office probes sign board removal saga linked to president's visit​

An investigation has been launched on the group who had ordered to remove the roadside sign boards in Moragahahena in Piliyandala area, citing a visit by president Gotabaya Rajapaksa, an official at the president's office told the Srilankamirror.
The official said the security officials have been asked to do the probe on this allegation.
Officials said this move has been carried out by a group of people to be recognised by the president or to embarrass the president.
So the president's officer has ordered the State Intelligence agency to provide a report on this.
The incident surfaced when an owner of a hardware store in the area released a video on social media on this issue.
Hardware owner Lakmal Wimalaguna said some people claiming to be from the President's Office asked him to remove sign boards.
Also, the IGP's office and Moragahahena police station too had informed him to remove the particular sign boards.
