Look at the tyre tread. All the tread in the middle are worn out. You know the reason for that ? These tyres are pressurised well over the required pressure to carry the maximum weight without bulging. So the tyre is like a balloon because of the high air pressure. When the bus is fully loaded the whole width of the tyre make contact with the road, but when the bus is empty ,only the middle of the tyre make contact, and that's when there is no friction at all to stop the bus when apply the brakes.
Years ago one private bus owner bought a brand new bus from the authorised importer for that particular brand. Within days he complain to the authorised dealer about a problem in his brand new 36 seater bus which runs between Akkareyipattu and Colombo. His complain was, when the bus is empty, the driver can not control the bus, because it's bouncing all over the road, and want to fix the problem. It took only a 30 seconds to fix the problem. The problem ?? well, front tyre pressure should be 60psi according to the book. But these idiots pump up 105psi because they load 80-100 passengers to this bus at that time.

You are correct. I have a story about that too. Once factory warranty being claimed for a brand new bus. Our engineers and mechanics check it and found a cracked chassis, which means the whole bus had to be condemned and the company had to replace it with a new bus or a full value of the bus had to be paid back to the owner. Since this is a very bad reputation for the importer and the world famous manufacturer, they decided to conduct a full investigation under an engineer from Japan. I was with that team of people who accompany that Japanese engineer to the vehicle which was placed in a hoist and inspect from underside. This engineer came all the way from Hong Kong, just to inspect this bus. His first comment to our chief engineer was " I thought you can count beyond seven ??" Then everybody baffled and had a closer look. The manufacturer had 7 leaves of springs in the rear. but this bus contains eight which means the owner put an extra leave of spring and that make the chassis to crack. Warranty claim rejected and owner had to go back empty handed.
Just before this engineer return to Hong Kong another warranty claim came in for broken "head rests" in seats. This is also a 2 week old bus running in hill country. So this engineer challenge the owner "this is the "HEADREST" If you can prove it's not strong enough to rest the head while sitting on the seat, I'll give you another bus for free. Please sit in a seat and rest your head as strong as you can, and break one, and I accept the responsibility.
We all know it's beyond any human head's strength because these things being broken due to dozens of passengers hang on to these head rests to stay upright while these overloaded bus negotiating sharp bends in hill country.
