එතන ඉඳලා බස් එක ට්‍රිප් එකක් යන වන්දනා නඩයක් වගේ වුනා. හැමෝම සැන්විච් කන අතරේ කොන්දොස්තර මහත්තයා වතුර බෝතලයක් වටේ යවනවා. ලෙච්චමීලා, සිරියාවතීල, ෆාතිමාල ඔක්කොම හිනා වෙවී කච පච ගෑවේ ජීවිතේ පලවෙනි වතාවට සැන්විච් කනවා වගේ. අලුතෙන් බස් එකට මිනිස්සු නග්ග ගනිද්දී කොන්දොස්තර කෑගැහුවේ මෙහෙම.

The culture can change from time to time. Even though I am not a Buddhist, I enjoyed this cultural event with my Buddhist friends. Today I visited several Dansalas, talked with strangers, shared some snaps on social media, and flirted with cute girls. Even foreigners visited that place. It is a very harmless act and useful to improve interactions between members of society, which are essential to a healthy society, that's why we have hundreds of holidays in a year. You can find similar social events in other societies too.

Martin Wickramasinghe also used the same sarcastic tone to express the social event of a wedding, and it was not an insult but enjoyable to read.
