What Marquis said is true. I have been to a car sale yesterday and there were some couple of sparkling Lacers CSs but no one bothered. Many of the buyers I saw are circling around a hacked 121. Unfortunately that's Sri Lanka.

This might be true for a specific model in the past. But it does not mean all the CVTs are bad. If OP can't find a good belta, then it's ok to go with a yaris. I am not recommending yaris solely because people are frustrated with it's fuel economy and eventually it will bother anyone. But still it does 10-12 kmpl.

It seems you are going to choose c. auto over the old CVT. how about newer c auto vs newer CVT? are you going to choose newer c auto?

You know automotive threads on Elakiri, you know the car enthusiasts here, ask anyone - open a thread if you want - and ask which transmission is the most reliable one to this date, conventional auto or CVT.

Most of the car enthusiasts here are under the age of 35 so that "older peoples' reluctance" theory isn't applicable

car enthusiasts means all of them are on the subject for atleast 10 years, that means it's the best era in SL for the manual transmission. So when a one used to drive a manual with the macho attitude they will see auto as the women's choice. So going to talk with a enthusiast about manual vs auto is like offering a bike racer a scooter. they never see the easiness and flexibility offered by the newer vehicle. As you are saying auto does not connect the driver to the car but instead it will does the job of transportation.

But I am saying if some one can find a Belta with a proper history of maintenance records, going for that belta is not a bad choice. It's better than buying a yaris.

Manual transmission might have some higher endurance capacity for misuse or at extreme driving conditions. But these days those old manual vehicles are going obsolete day by day. Those old manual transmissions are going to be choice of only old people's or by enthusiast, as you pointed out.
Similar fate will be applied to conventional auto too. Some manufactures are trying to renovate it, but sadly majority are shifting to CVTs.

Come on, be serious. It does 9-10 average in cmb traffic, 12-14 average (up to 15-16 depending on driving conditions) outstation.

It's very reasonable FE for a car this size with a 1600CC engine.
