Mass Effect 3 Omega DLC Confirmed

BioWare confirmed plans to release more single-player download content for Mass Effect 3. The 'Omega' content launches this fall. The developer says expect even more single and multi-player content over the next six months.

BioWare also confirmed plans to develop another full Mass Effect title, though no details about the project were revealed at this time.

Final Modern Warfare 3 DLC Dated For PC, PS3

The fourth and final bundle of Modern Warfare 3 download content, Final Assault, arrives on PlayStation 3 and PC early next month, Activision said today.

The content hits on October 10, and includes five multplayer maps: Decommission, Off Shore, Gulch, Boardwalk, and Parish. If you are a Call of Duty Elite premium member on PS3, you will get the final three levels — Gulch, Boardwalk, and Parish — on October 9, Activision said.

New Resident Evil 6 Demo Released

If you're not too busy playing Borderlands 2, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 owners can download a new demo of Resident Evil 6, Capcom said today. The demo is different from the one packed in with Dragon's Dogma.

The demo contains three sections, all highlighting action from each of the three playable campaigns for Leon, Chris, and Jake Play as either Leon S. Kennedy or Helena Harper and further explore the dark corridors and moonlit grounds of Ivy University, swarming with the victims of the latest bioterrorist attack.

The action in Jake’s mission switches to the neon-lit streets of Lanshiang as he and Sherry Berkin fight off the new J’avo enemies, including their fully mutated forms. Jake’s special hand-to- hand combat moves and Sherry’s stun baton are pivotal in their struggle to stay alive.

Showcasing the global setting in Resident Evil 6, Chris Redfield and Piers Nivans head with fellow BSAA team members to the war-ravaged streets of Edonia. The amassed J’avo forces provide a stiff enough challenge, but that’s before the three-story high B.O.W. Ogroman crashes the party. Select Piers for a slightly different weapons loadout than Chris including a sniper rifle with thermal scope.

Resident Evil 6 releases across Europe and North America on October 2. A PC version will follow soon, Capcom said.

BioWare co-founders Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk retire

BioWare co-founders Ray Muzyka and Greg Zeschuk have announced their retirement from the company after a nearly 17-year run supervising some of the most well-known RPGs on the PC, including Dragon Age, Mass Effect, and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.Both Muzyka and Zeschuk wrote blog entries explaining their departure and issuing farewells to their co-workers and fans.

“I feel the need now to move on to a new chapter in my career,” Muzyka wrote. “With the
growth of BioWare to multiple locations as part of a public company, following two decades of multiple successful product launches across many platforms and business models, I’ve largely personally achieved what I wanted in video games. I now desire to take on a brand new entrepreneurial challenge.”

Muzyka says his efforts now lie in promoting educational, health, and animal rights charities as part of his interest in “social entrepreneurship.” He also says his retirement decision occurred during April, which aligns with BioWare’s initial reveal of the Extended Cut DLC for Mass Effect 3 following its controversial conclusion.

Zeschuk’s explanation is a bit more direct. “After nearly twenty years working at BioWare, I’ve decided it’s time to move on and pursue something new,” he wrote. “This decision isn’t without significant pain and regret, but it’s also something I know I need to do, for myself and my family. I’ve reached an unexpected point in my life where I no longer have the passion that I once did for the company, for the games, and for the challenge of creation.”

Zeschuk’s future project entails entering the craft beer industry with a web-based interview show called The Beer Diaries. As for any chance of re-entering game production, Zeschuk said there’s “a strong possibility” he won’t return.

The announcement occurs a day after BioWare’s reveal of Dragon Age 3: Inquisition. Last month, publisher EA denied rumors of Muzyka and Zeschuk’s retirement in response to Star Wars: The Old Republic’s slipping performance.
