I think our development always clashed with the religious opinions, natural beauty, ethnic war, rural communist type ideology etc.,

Regardless of the opinions about MR, the island wide Highways and end of war, I believe, had slowly shaped our culture more liberal/ western oriented..

Where I live, gets involved with world politics, something even India won't do, maybe cuz the Indian people are not that war mongering.. - for eg here lately the conversation was about a 100s of billions of a nuclear submarine deal, with the US and UK..

One YouTuber mentioned recently that when that person visits Galle, it feels so chilled..

So guess the postcode you live, determines a lot..

Happier you are with your area, less concerned you will be towards, the country's political arena..

The sad situation is, Sri Lanka has potential but cannot make use of it due to the existing system that is hard to change and attitudes of people.

In your opinion, what are those potentials?
Plenty of natural resources (for a country of the size SL), very fertile soil, reasonable climate compared to most countries in the world, an island with ocean (and resources) all around, geographically strategic location in the world map and above all a community with great skills and knowledge (mostly other countries are benefitted by this)

Sri Lanka definitely has the geographic advantage to become a major transit hub. But a true transit hub needs to serve passengers who might spend 3 to 10 hours inside the airport, not just those arriving or departing. Right now, Sri Lanka’s airport feels like it was designed mainly for arrivals and departures. not for people in transit. There are only a handful of duty free shops available , food options are limited.

sri lanka should expand its airport 1st

here are certain things Sri Lanka can introduce to make Sri Lankan airport a proper transit hub

introduce transit hotels inside the Airport

    Expand the airport

    Introduce Shower and refresh facilities

Introduce Diverse food court (local + international)

Introduce convenience stores inside the airport

introduce transit tour packages at the aiport

    Live cultural performances

    Introduce luggage storage facility

    Introduce baby care rooms

    Introduce kids play area

    Introduce mini Cinema

    Introduce Gaming Zones

Introduce a modern train from airport to city

I've only mentioned a few ideas here. there’s actually a lot more Sri Lanka could do. The reality is, we’re sitting on something incredibly valuable without fully realizing it. It’s like living on top of a gold mine and not tapping into its true potential.

None of those are backed by quantifiable facts and figures. Those are mere statements based on our beliefs. Your claim is still unsupported.

There are minerals (like ilmenite, phosphate and good quality graphite) and then gemstones. Since there is ocean all round, plenty of marine(aquatic) resources. Also, water resources (now destroyed by guys who were annihilating forests/trees). Then above all fertile agricultural land now destroyed by careless and irresponsible human activity.
