I did my own testing...with Unreal 3 game. Audio vs. no audio performance difference. (I used integrated audio and can't really compare dedicated vs. integrated)

But I can assure you it is not as bas as you say! (Dedicated audio would still eat up "some" CPU resources...only thing is it won't eat as much as an integrated chip would)

First result is without audio. 2nd is with audio.

That's a whopping 5.68% slow down...I'm gonna die

P.S.
This is at 1024x768 max details, max texture quality, with Core 2 Duo @ 2.73GHz, 4GB RAM and an unlocked X800GTO.
Tested using UT3 Benchmark tool

now thats convincing....
:P

haha My friend i have played with Creative X-Fiz, Logitech z5500s, Bose acoustimass, JBL, Altec lansing and have made my own speakers at home too.
Sad to hurt you bro but z5500 is pure crap it can't reproduce real bass or mids.
Just lot of power RMS 500 with a 10inch woofer. hehe

here is my onboard sound features...
    :P

    SupremeFX (ADI 1988b)
The SupremeFX audio card is designed to provide you the best game sound experience. With 24bit/192kHz full sampling in all surround channels, no matter if you´re hearing your game through headphones or 7.1 surround speakers, we´ll deliver the effects loud and clear!

    DTS Connect™
This feature is consists of two elements: DTS interactive and DTS NEO:PC. DTS interactive re-encodes your stereo or multi-channel sound into a DTS audio signal and send it out from your PC to any DTS enabled system. While DTS NEO:PC turns your stereo audio such as MP3, WMA, CD, and other sound format into a convincing multi-channel audio experience.

Dude, first you correct issues at your side so that we can't make fun of you!

    1. Audio is hard to compare. One person's perspective is different to another. I have two recent motherboards and they have different audio chips. The Intel board was the one I first used and when I switched to the Asus board, I felt the Asus's audio is crappy. But now I understand it is not crappy, but just "different" because of the filtering is different.

    2. Post the corrected screenshots quickly. (on the same player) But I don't think using Creative player is a good thing. You should use a neutral software, like Windows Media Player or VLC Player or whatever...

    so what..?
thats why we have so much powerful CPU's..
    my point is..
is it compromise the sound quality..?

haha so its really cheap? :P Its over Rs 8000/- in here
So Audigy 4 + SBS 580 how much you think? You recomend it as a cheap upgrade to normal PC owner who is enjoying onboard audio without any problem.
If he want dolby decoding he can do software and these days almost all onboard sound cards are multichannel. :D

Anyway learn to talk first coz you can face some troubles in the future :)

Mulit channel doesnt mean it can decode dolby n DTS....it is just that u can install more speakers.......

Thats why i said then you can do software decoding and even new onboards can hardware decode too.
Its worthy to use bit more processor than spending on a dedicated card. And SL people always try to get more powerful cpu other than thinking about ram or vgs. So its most suitable to SL ppl hehe.

Anyway i am so sad you spend that much money on a z5500 knowing this much about audio. :P

As i said before it depends on the user need.
I said this because you are recomending Audigy 4 + SBS 580 to a guy who is happy with his onboard audio. You are making him spend over 10k for a small processor usage differance.

+Audio Clarity.....yeah in SL no 1 wants a separate card.......bt my point still remains the same......A good solid sound card beats the crap out of a onboard.......

Just bcoz u hv a slow cpu & a crappy onboard sound card that cannot even decode a mp3 without using that slow cpu dnt think everything else is the same. & FYI most of the people here in SL are not serious gamers. So we dont need dedicated sound cards just to get a little more fps. Even if we need to get that 5%~ FPS no one in his r8 mind will buy a crappy Audigy. Better off spending the extra money n buying a X-fi. :P

btw, This is by far the crappiest comparison Ive ever seen.

It really didnt come off correctly from your very first post eh!!!.

Its more like SL ppl dont know how to convince what they are trying to say. & you proved it with your first post

Normal guy can't feel the audio clearity he gains from Audigy with the SBS.
SBS just cheap crap, it will sound almost same with onboard.

Even new onboards have same or more clearity than cheap audigys. If you want to compare then you will have to talk about X-Fi's then the price factor comes.

    You are saying
good solid sound card beats the crap out of a onboard

So everyone agrees about it. If not creative can't sell X-Fiz :P

But its not the point we are talking in here. We are talking about quality improvement you gain from dedicated cards and how much you are ready to spend for it. And how many want to spend that much money for the improvement.

So it comes to the same conclusion i said as my first post in this thread. I don't wanna repeat it again.
