I am a software architect graduated from UCSC with degree on computer science and many other post graduate qualifications and certifications. Currently works for one of the top companies in Sri Lanka.

By looking at your attitude I can surely say that you are someone who would be miserable to employ anywhere in the IT industry. Not just in LK, abroad even. I do go for your carrier fares to pick good ones and even I do have couple of guys who are working in My team which are CSE graduates. They are not hot heads like you. And certainly I believe what you lack is self esteem, so you are afraid to face a challenge.

FYI, from my exposure with CSE guys many are good as well as I had to let go many during or after probation just because they are not capable enough for what we pay for them. And there were guys I had worked with who didn't even had any degree but with superb talent.

And to clarify one thing, computer science is the broader concept. All other topics are just interpretation to certain job roles in the IT industry, may it be Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, network engineering etc.

Just make sure to stay away from guys like elon musk in case you come across by a slight chance.

    Good luck.

    1. i'm not in the IT industry
    2. I just mentioned the law. you can have the software architect designation but not software engineer (which you have passed) as per the current law of the country. not your fault. your companies fault and IESLs fault.

i know that your industry does not care of defrees, formalities, designations etc. but as per the law, "engineer" designation is regulated and written in black ink on a gazzete. not on someone's attitude. if you are a citizen in SL and working for a SL company, the company has to read the law before adopting designations of other countries

This is the definition of an Engineer according to the UK EC.

"Chartered Engineers (CEng) develop solutions to engineering problems using new or existing technologies, through innovation, creativity and change and/or they may have technical accountability for complex systems with significant levels of risk."

This is day today work of a typical Software Engineer. May I know what sort of innovation which you have done in your respective engineering field ?.
If not you are not qualified enough to call yourself an Engineer no matter what sort of papers you have.

On the other hand what IESL should do is cope up with global standards get updated accordingly to world trends and drive the country forward rather than just be a body that is useful for certain professionals with low income to get cheap loans.

And UCSC is one of the oldest tech institutes in the country. And it does provide Engineering degrees in its respective filed.

really? UCSC provide BSC Engineering degrees? may i see a degree certificate?

some of the design changes we have involved in doing in the national project i work for accounts for a cost reduction which values more than the net worth of some software companies in SL :P

😂 Maybe your salary is also paid by some random software engineer who brings in $ to the country. Its stupid to put that the cost of reduction in your project is more than the net worth of some Software Companies in SL, in other terms there are multi billion $ software companies in SL, who were once just a startup (maybe even fraction of whats your mentioned cost reduction). That's why I told you earlier to get away from people like MUSK etc if you ever come across such individuals by any chance.

FYI read below first. It will enlighten your tiny mind.

my project cost was over 2 billion $ hehe. and paid by daily commuters. i just answered your question on my engineering input to the country. comparing to an entire software company, and not comparable to an individual. i have heard that elons companies use next to slave labor. so no thanks

perhaps you should take all your logic to IESL. i just pointed out the current law. if people from UCSC is on par with the CSE people, the correct step is to convince the uni to introduce modules required and convert it to an engineering degree

ps- i did go to that site with my timy mind and did not find any courses from UoC in the eligibility list. and get off from the mindset that foreign revenue earners are solely contributing to the GDP. GDP can produced within the country from internal economic activities as well

It is highly unlikely that what you told is real. There are no real value added project to the country at the moment as such except money guzzling proxy developments where people of the country ended up being poorer and poorer. That's the reality and proven over the years. So the commuters earn 2 billion $ right. 😂 🔫.
    Anyway good luck.
No wonder why SL is at this stage even after 70 yrs of independence. Its just not politicians you know.

no the commuters would save up to 8 billion LKR per day the money which would have wasted otherwise on road as time and fuel. GDP can be increased by earning more as well as reducing existing costs fyi. don't show your stupidity by talking about other fields with the tiny knowledge you have. this is why engineers must come from a strong mathematical background except purely from a cs base. inability to review a problem

😂 Simply referring, show me a real world example, so called saving has happened here in SL except increasing yearly premium on foreign loans. My tiny brain cant still comprehend this. 😂😂 FYI I'm not the one who talks about other fields without any expertise on the subject in a thread put to query a IT related question.

Anyway I have a highly mathematical background, way over CS or Eng levels. Its about time I stop wasting my time over you.

i can show you over 50 examples in our neighboring countries, dhaka metro, mumbai, malalos clerk etc. plus 0.1% interest rate per annum foreign loans doesnt do much damage. at the end of the day, the benefit of 1 such project we do overshadows net worth of all the top 5 software companies in sl combined. but your mathematical background did not reflect on your thinking in last 3 comments. indeed, Its about time you stop wasting your time over me and polish up your mathematical reasoning

    මම වැඩ කරලා තියනවා ගොඩක් foreign SE, Arhitects, Leads එක්ක (US/UK/Aus/Swe).

i can show you over 50 examples in our neighboring countries, dhaka metro, mumbai, malalos clerk etc. plus 0.1% interest rate per annum foreign loans doesnt do much damage. at the end of the day, the benefit of 1 such project we do overshadows net worth of all the top 5 software companies in sl combined. but your mathematical background did not reflect on your thinking in last 3 comments. indeed, Its about time you stop wasting your time over me and polish up your mathematical reasoning
Simply again ? an example in SL. That's what I asked from you. Mathematical reasoning. My ass.

CLRT, 3 more WLRT lines, CSRP, KSRP etc... yet to be built. one we already finished design. you asked for a real world example. i gave you 3 already functioning real world examples and 6 up coming examples in SL. looking for a loophole to win your stupid argument?. don't get in arguments in what you have no competency at
