As someone on graduate visa and an employee of a UK organisation, it all feels frustrating and misplaced. I work hard to drive success for a British company, have no dependents, and for 3 years have contributed to the country through work and economic participation, and I’d simply want to stay because of choice on having a more independent life here. Yet we are being fixated on as the people to kick out and blame. There is no way I would get that much of a salary increase for the SWV sponsorship at the end of my current visa, especially knowing that my company is also in a tight financial position. No other companies would hire with sponsorship in the current job market. They treat us like a burden but in reality we have done nothing but contribute. In the end, we pay for monthly taxes and ridiculous rent and insane visa fees/ surcharges, with no access to public funds (unemployment benefits etc) and then all of that goes to these exact same people who tell you to just get lost - what a load of rubbish.
